Pros

Good opportunities for young journalists willing to work cheap. Long hours but many chances to cover variety of stories.

Cons

This newspaper was a very good mid-size newspaper for more than 100 years. The decline really started several years ago. Since the Great Recession, Gannett has continued to downsize and degrade the product. Annual layoffs deplete staff of veterans and knowledge of community. Much of the newspaper now is USA TODAY content, repackaged into the Enquirer. Local content heavily focused on crime and government news.
