Pros

Everyone was nice but by the end of the day, everyone was stressed

Cons

The organization's intention is in the right place, but the authorities seemed to only care about the money over their staff.

Pros

Friendly, young group of coworkers. The field managers organize social events and keep everybody excited about the work.

Cons

You don't really work for Environment New York, you work for the Fund for the Public Interest. So the money you get people to donate may not actually be going toward the issues donators care about. The Fund has a 66% rating on Charity Navigator for good reason! Most donations go directly to admin costs... yuck.

Not worth the effort and time.

Pros

The only positive thing I have to say about Environment New York has to be the group of people I met there. There is a variety of young and interesting people who worked or were applying to work at Environment New York.

Cons

Holy moly. There's a myriad of things wrong with Environment NY. One of the first things is the interview process is a joke. They ask you a couple of questions on your first interview and say positive things, and tell you to come in on another day for a second interview. This gives people a sense of hope and they come in hoping for a job offer. Instead groups of workers swarm around the interns, nitpicking at their behavior and they way they present themselves, and as a result a lot of people are ousted from this second interview because of these minute details. Those who do stay are given "canvassing" jobs, where they go around places in NY and essentially beg people for money an donations. The quotas they set on workers is too high and the work is grueling. Not worth an 11 an hour pay.
