Pros

Standard Canadian benefits package, Hybrid

Cons

Lack of SDLC & Agile Maturity: Inside of the QA Team: No structured planning, peer reviews, or collective demos. Professional growth is hindered by improvised workflows and a total absence of process improvement. Team work in isolated "waterfall" silos rather than collaboratively with the Dev Team. Into the QA Team (2 people) exist practices like Knowledge Siloing, Gatekeeping, Mobbing, and Discouraging initiative. Hostility Toward Professional Input: Providing expertise or suggesting data-driven improvements is perceived as a threat or competition rather than a contribution to the team’s success. Poor Leadership Culture: A "command-and-control" environment where individual opinions are dismissed, and ideas are co-opted without credit.

Pros

Worked 16 years at Epiphan Video as a Senior Software Engineer, contributing to a wide range of projects - from Pearl firmware to cloud services. It's a place where engineers can own complex problems end to end and see their work ship to real customers. Stable company and long-term product vision focused on quality and reliability. Left on good terms to start my own SaaS business.

Cons

Some product lines have long life cycles, so changes can take time to roll out. Hardware + cloud development adds complexity, so onboarding can feel steep for new engineers.
