Tight-knit Team Environment

Pros

-Small, tight-knit team -Everyone knows their and each other's role (who does what) -Lots of opportunity given for professional growth, as well as allowing employees having the initiative/desire to touch on all facets of IT consulting (engineering/delivery, architecting solutions, developing standards, project management, IT budgeting, pre-sales/sales, marketing, etc.) -Willingness to listen to ideas and try new directions. -Technical opportunities to work with many different technologies, often within the same project

Cons

-small team; too many great ideas and not enough people to execute them in a short time -working and wanting to make a contribution within a tight-knit team that strives for 'continual process improvement' can make it challenging to say no sometimes and not over-commit

Pros

Pay is OK. Not great. OK.

Cons

Working at EQ, you will enjoy the following: *Do you like a generally poor company morale? I hope so, because that's what it is, every day. *Do you like terrible benefits? I hope so, because they include but are not limited to: high out of pocket, poor choices, no vision, no 401k. You won't really care about the poor health benefits though, because you will be made to feel guilty about having a doctor appointment. *Do you like to work in a terrible office with terrible parking, I hope so because your car will get hit. You will sweat. Bathroom (just the one!) is gross. *Do you like really awful office politics? I hope so, because there's a very small group of diehard EQ employees who have risen way past their level of incompetence. What is a Chief Administrative Officer anyway? There's a lot of fancy titles for a company of a couple of handful of people. *Do you like employee/engineer turnover? I hope so because you will notice that EQ can't keep an employee. The turnaround is high. This is related to all its other issues, but ALSO that they suck at hiring. *Do you like the military? I hope so, because the owner is a VERY gung ho Marine. *Do you like to work late? I hope so, because quitting time is 530 and don't expect to leave even a MINUTE early. It's very inconveniently located so enjoy getting home late. *Do you like to be expected to unethically bill clients? I hope so, because you will be expected to do that A LOT. *Do you like to clean up the messes of long time engineers who do terrible work? I hope so, because you will do that A LOT (and unethically bill for it). *Do you like taking the blame when a client decides they don't like EQ? I hope so, because you will get FIRED if a client you work for drops EQ (for any reason). *Do you like tracking LITERALLY ALL YOUR HOURS at work? I hope so because that's required. *Do you like involuntary social events? I hope so, because there's about one a quarter. *Do you like unpaid after-hours meetings where you will be lectured about how to be an adult, what books you should read, and be read poems to? I hope so, because that's a thing and it happens once a month. You also track this time and it's in a bucket that's seen as "negative" to the company. *Do you like not getting bonuses? I hope so, because they company constantly moves the goalposts on how you get them. They even are nice enough to make you sign a new contract! *Do you like busywork? I hope so, because as part of your bonus requirements, you are required to do several hours of it a week! On your own time! *Do you like being talked down to about technology by people with no technical skills? I hope so, because that will be your life! *Do you like being at odds with every single of your coworkers and not feeling like a single one is a member of a real team? I hope so, because you will hate them anyway! *Do you like creepy, perverted jokes & situations? I hope so, because that's acceptable behavior there. *Do you like being sorry you took a job and desperate to get a new one? I hope so, because you will feel like this after your first few days.

Collaborative Work Environment

Pros

Before I started at EQ they let me know up front what the expectations were and inform potential candidates that the pace is a competitive one. This is a very honest opportunity for someone that is highly motivated. The management consists of experienced leaders that want the very best for you as a professional. Starting from the top down there is a united front to see everyone succeed and time is taken to develop employees. The incentivized compensation program and earning potential is unheard of and not found anywhere else. The company culture is fun, collaborative, and people-focused. There is the opportunity to move around or up depending on your goals. I have been successful at EQ thanks to the support of the management team and colleagues partnering with me. I love working here.

Cons

You earn everything you receive, there is nothing given to you. The consulting industry is one of the most competitive out there, another reason why we get paid so well. You might see people come and go and complain. They do this because they just aren’t built for this industry.
