Pros

Autonomy--no one really holds you accountable for anything, which is nice, and you can fly pretty free without much oversight.

Cons

Their entire value proposition is a hoax and a lie. While the job pays well (hence my reason for staying), it has been tough working in Corporate, seeing how they coax potential franchisees into buying one of their stores--the ROI is so unproven, yet we act like this ROI is a normality when we pitch to Franchisees. Left and right, I have seen people fork over their life savings, and we act like they will get a return--they never do. Nor do I feel the support we offer to our franchisees is up to par. We offer them very little support or guidance once you buy your store, yet we hold you to extremely strict guidelines relative to marketing efforts, supplier relationships, distribution, etc. Stores are closing left and right, people's futures are being ruined...FRANCHISEES THIS IS A WARNING: DO NOT BUY A FRANCHISE FROM E&G. You will regret it. It gives me peace knowing this review is anonymous; at work, I cannot say this feedback outloud, as I would be completely undermining our 'core offering'. However, it breaks my heart to see a Corporation lie to innocent people and to not follow through on their end of the bargain. Trust me when I say this, E&G Corporate doesn’t blink an eye when a Franchisee closes their store—they are truly a soulless group of Leadership and I feel ashamed to be a part of this brand.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review and for sharing your personal experience and perceptions. Every piece of feedback is appreciated and reviewed by our corporate leadership team. It should come as no secret that we have very high expectations for our franchise partners. We speak to it on our website, are extremely transparent about it in our selection process, and only shake hands when all parties agree. We at the corporate office serve to help owners grow and succeed in more places than just at the front register. I want the best for all of our franchisees - today, tomorrow, and many years into the future. While I understand the security in an anonymous post, I would like to better understand your perception so we can respond appropriately. Please, consider setting up time with me to talk. All the best, Stephanie Schon, COO

Pros

tips, food discounts, flexible hours

Cons

Management does not resolve employee complaints. Shift leads are barely out of high school, have no customer service skills and treat delivery drivers and team members like slaves. Leads also do not train and will say " i don't want to train you". Shift leads are lazy and constantly complaining about management and other workers behind their back and only work when the manager is on the premises. There is no team in I. Delivery drivers not only work register (which they are not supposed to because they don't get the in store tips they generate), they work the sandwich counter, phones, and if unlucky to get closing shift, perform ALL closing duties while leads sit on their butt. A delivery driver will be out on several runs and the shift leads are alone in the store and have two customers and call the delivery driver demanding they hurry back. It wont matter that it is snow and ice out either. If it is slow in the store and the delivery driver is out on runs that doesn't change the fact the shift lead will do nothing and when the driver returns they are demanded to do dishes and mop, sweep, take out trash, clean bathrooms and perform stocking duties. The delivery driver is only getting paid more by tips, IF the customer gives them. Delivery drivers are told it is their call on whether or not to drive in severe weather. That is a lie. Drivers will work in extreme weather and expected to perform just as fast as on non severe weather days. In store workers answering the phones, including leads, do not care to take down PERTINENT information such as the location. When a customer calls and says they don't know their address or are drunk and when addresses are incorrectly entered how is a delivery driver supposed to find the customer? The delivery driver gets blamed. The turnover is ridiculous. Lastly, E&B delivers to the security hospital which will slow a driver down by up to 30 minutes! All these concerns will be presented to the manager and nothing is resolved.
