Pros

Initially, the work environment, work load and communication was a good feeling.

Cons

Cons are you are graded and measured performance wise and held accountable without knowing what metrics are set in place to be met. Spent many days in meetings and gathering info on what to do and how to do it with no due dates on work, only to be told I was “underperforming” but when asked where the underperformance was occurring, nothing could be found. Was spoken to as if being highly appreciated and wanted only to be called and fired without cause. All in all, to underperform means numbers and metrics aren’t being met, but how can that be when no metric system was in place or communicated to our team.

Pros

Essentia is a tight-knit organization that fosters growth and rewards success. In a few short years I have been afforded more opportunities and been more professionally fulfilled than with any other company or at any time in my career. There is a strong and steady stream of work in the pipeline with many new clients gained and projects awarded in the last year. Being a 100% remote company means that Essentia has no geographical limits to its hiring pool. They can and do seek out top talent nationwide. Every team-member I have had the opportunity to collaborate with has been dedicated, knowledgeable and willing to go the extra mile. Essentia is Great Place to Work certified for 3 years running and the efforts to achieve that are felt throughout the organization. The company's 4 core values of Innovation, Collaboration, Impact and Judgment are always at the forefront and on constant display from upper management down to the trenches.

Cons

Being a 100% remote company also means that team cohesion can often be challenging and there are less opportunities to forge the types of personal connections that can only be made face-to-face. Upper management seek to hire only those individuals who regularly give 110% or more. That hiring ethic tends to bring together highly talented people, but the burnout factor can be high and more efforts could be made to retain people long term. The company has gone through a lot of rapid growth in the last couple years and with that there have been a fair share of growing pains and a few stumbles along the way. That said, each stumble has been treated as a valuable lesson and corrective actions taken where needed.

Thank you for the feedback! For all the benefits of having a virtual workforce, there are certainly challenges. We continue to seek out novel ways to bridge the distance and ensure that collaboration and camaraderie are strengths for Essentia. The same with work-life balance; it's imperative that our team members feel that they're able to unwind and unplug. Thanks again for the constructive criticism — we'll certainly circulate and discuss.

Pros

Here you'll find lots of good, hard-working people with a tremendous opportunity in front of them. We're partnering with top companies to fundamentally change the way they work, i.e., build networks. And knowing that we have the capability of helping people connect to the world around them faster and easier is a nice feeling at the end of a long day.

Cons

Essentia is still finding its feet in some ways. Key areas such as accounting and HR continue to staff up to accommodate the company's growth, but they're getting to the needed levels. Also, there can be better communication among employees and departments at times.
