Pros

A good place for a developer to get on the career ladder. Developers will get the chance to work on new and exciting projects. Developers have the freedom to choose the tools, libraries and techniques they want to use on their project. Office is located in the heart of Belfast City Centre.

Cons

Everyone is packed into the office like sardines. There is no process whatsoever. Lots of fire fighting due to poorly built legacy software. Toxic environment. Top-heavy. Poor salary. Developers work on very old hardware. Micro-management across the entire business. No room for personal development. Management employ bullying tactics - blame culture, criticism of ability, humiliating developers in the middle of the office, swearing, insults and put-downs, etc.

Pros

Fast paced, varied projects, great people and relaxed working atmosphere. Since joining Etain I have seen a huge investment by the management in staff and infrastructure. We now have dedicated project managers, business\technical analysts and core project teams. There is a big drive to encourage professional development and staff are given time to invest in their learning. Work life balance is the most balanced I have had in 20 years!! I feel like I bring value to the company and that is what matters to me.

Cons

As a small local company Etain cannot compete with some of the larger financial packages being offered by other companies in the area but, if that is what matter most to you then this is not the place for you.

Pros

Good projects. Staff given responsibility - some can handle while others cant. Very flat management structure - easy access to decision makers.

Cons

Pretty much everyone is involved in multiple projects - which can add pressure. Salary & benefits are OK - not top of the tree but certainly better than many and with some other benefits thrown in. Very family friendly / flexible.
