Pros

Training is decent in that they give you as much time as you need to get comfortable on the phones, helping patients is rewarding.

Cons

Lack of clear protocols in place for certain patient/scheduling situations, leading to confusion. Management is more concerned with numbers than the patient experience. Patients complain about the phone systems and PSRs relay the messages to management, however changes are never made. PSRs sit in a loud, crammed environment with TEENY cubicles, so it's very claustrophobic. Work environment can lead to stress. Pay is not enough to make it worth it.

Pros

Lots of good people who have their hearts and start out in the right place.

Cons

Life/work balance is only true for those in higher positions. There are constantly new and more processes being cascaded down from on high for the boots on the ground to implement; however, there is little to no observance as to whether the new implementations are adding more work and expectation to the lower level positions that only require a HS diploma. There was a constant feeling by my team and myself of being "in trouble" because if there was any mistake we didn't catch in time or anything left undone, whether it was our error or not, we were on the hook for it. The expectations of the job did not match the pay. Kirkland, WA is one of the most expensive places to live in the country. I was scraping by and was considered below poverty level. I was fortunate to have gotten one of the larger raises during COVID, some inheritance, and other financial aid, or I wouldn't have made it. There is far too much pressure on people for this level of pay. Patients are in our faces daily and we are the "bouncers" for the clinics. These are some of the reasons for burnout at the Front Office.
