More Layoffs at Evernym

Pros

Was fun to be a part of cutting-edge technology using blockchain, cryptography, and self-sovereign identity models. Great people at Evernym.

Cons

Cutting-edge technology and gee-whiz solutions don’t pay the bills and they don’t make a company successful. Evernym has struggled to monetize its core IP. It's still basically an outsourced dev shop, working on any think-tank project that comes along from the government or financial sector. No focus, no roadmap, no products for the masses, no monetization. A lot of promises, little delivery.

This same critic, doubtfully a former Evernym employee, shows up every few months to throw more of the same inaccurate and misleading FUD. For example, we outsource our development to no one, and never have; the only projects we work on are directly related to our own products. The other criticisms raised have been answered in previous rebuttals to the same things.

Pros

- All the promises you can eat - Industry buzz, cool factor - Opportunity to solve world hunger, or so you'll be told

Cons

- Way too top heavy for size of company - Burning through capital with little to no revenues to show - Inexperience at the management layer - Roadmap always changing - Always chasing the latest shiny object - Don’t know how to say no

We've never equivocated in our goals to change the world, that's why we started the company in the first place. So if you don't like the risk and reward that audacious goal entails, it's not the place for you. And judging by how many of the world's biggest brands are now using our protocols and adopting our architecture, we could say we've changed the world a bit already, but we're just getting started.

Not a Good Career Opportunity

Pros

Lots of in-the-clouds dreamers at Evernym. Sometimes that’s a good thing, most the time not.

Cons

If you’re a developer or engineer looking for a stable new job, my advice would be to keep looking. Evernym is not a good career launchpad. The CEO has no former experience in the industry, which tells you what kind of qualifications you’re dealing with. The bed-time story of turning the world’s identity management systems upside down sounds great, but Evernym is unrealistic about its part in the story. They manage too much by hopes and dreams, not by sound business principles. Fair Warning.

This same anonymous reviewer shows up every couple of months to sling some mud on us. See our responses to his/her older posts. Two quick things we'll say again here: 1. Our 'dreaming' is paying off in a huge way, we're now working closely with the biggest brands on earth and several governments who believe we've solved the identity problem. 2. It's a good thing, not bad, that our CEO doesn't have experience in the old thinking of identity, where the innovative thinking necessary for change is unlikely to emerge. And our employees LOVE working for us, not one of them regrets the choice to join us, it's easy to find ANY current employee and confirm this. Too bad GlassDoor doesn't have a better way of confirming who people are before allowing them to make disparaging comments.
