Pros

The core value proposition is good, and remote work opportunities were expanded subsequent to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cons

From individual clinics through the corporate accounting unit, Paladina Health employees are poorly supported and unbelievably overworked. The acquisition of Activate Health was approached with haste, without a thorough plan, and omitted the recruitment of resources and personnel necessary to manage such change. With the company still crippled by the resounding failures of their first acquisition, Paladina, now Everside Health, is repeating their mistakes with yet another hurried calamity of an acquisition. Terminations as well as voluntary turnover are rampant, and none of Paladina's purported desire to be an 'employer of choice' is reflected in management decisions nor the utter lack of respect and decorum that is Paladina's true corporate culture. Their mission statement and core values are fluff, and the reality is one of omnipresent ager and stress that consistently fails to service clients, patients, and employees. If you accept an exempt role with this organization, you will have no work-life balance. If you expect a reasonable amount of support and positivity in a prospective role with this organization, you will be the exception to the rule.

Pros

Generally, the people are great, although the company has lost a lot of good talent recently due to layoffs as well as people leaving on their own accord. The direct primary care model is one that truly benefits patients, and has an impact on lives. However, I fear that Paladina Health's best days are behind it. The company was in a good position to move to remote work when COVID-19 hit, and the clinics have done a good job adjusting to telehealth.

Cons

After divestiture, Paladina's board of directors put a lot of money and resources into installing seasoned leaders in executive positions (many of whom come from large, corporate healthcare entities) without investing in the growth and development of the teams beneath those leaders - those tasked with doing much of the work. Consequently, business deals are inked and decisions are made without the necessary boots on the ground to properly deliver on those decisions. Details are missed, expectations are murky, and accountability is sorely lacking. The health insurance benefits are - ironically - quite poor. The acquisition of Activate Healthcare in 2019 was badly mismanaged, and the company still remains siloed in two camps which are often at odds with one another. Opportunities for career growth (i.e. promotions, raises beyond standard cost-of-living increases) are very limited due to budget constraints.

Pros

Can't think of many Pros to this position. Some flexibility in work scheduling was allowed.

Cons

Grandiose expectations on the part of management. Incompetent administration from the top down. Essentially no leadership skills that I ever saw. Somehow these people expect their medical professionals to deliver miraculous care with essentially no resources. They tell their patients they will be well taken care of, but in reality their membership fees pay for meager assessments, be they well health assessments or treatment of chronic diseases. Management have no clue what quality health care consists of or how to deliver it. Staff are essentially fast tracked into working positions with little to no orientation to the company's expected work flow. The electronic medical records system used by the company is the worst I've ever seen. Reading old notes on complex patients from other company practitioners is a nightmare. Company and management seem oblivious to and uncaring about these problems. In the time I worked for them the local branch lost two major contracts, had to close one of its local clinics, and appeared on the brink of losing even more. Company refuse to acknowledge responsibility for their failures, and blame is simply passed down the administrative line to the lowest and weakest available lightening rod. I can't imagine anyone I personally know or care about receiving their care at one of these clinics.
