Challenging Times Expose Leadership's True Nature

Pros

Some employees are genuinely good people and a joy to work with.

Cons

While older reviews praise the CEO for his charisma, accessibility, and transparency, in a shocking turn of events, the CEO oversaw the layoff of over 20% of the workforce in a manner that can only be described as cold and unfeeling. These layoffs were conducted without any prior warning or notice, catching many dedicated employees off-guard. In a span of just half a morning, many individuals were dumped with no support or severance package to cushion the blow amidst the brutal tech job market of mid 2023. This decision stands in stark contrast to the previously lauded qualities of transparency, kindness and communication. It's disheartening to see such a drastic measure taken without the apparent consideration of the very employees who have contributed to the company's growth and success. One must wonder if the other positive reviews genuinely reflect the CEO's character or if they merely scratch the surface of a more complex leadership style.

As I said in our last conversation, I'm sorry for the impact this change last spring had on you, and that you didn't feel like the severance or warning was adequate. Unfortunately, the tech world quickly shifted focus from aggressive growth to a more conservative model given the economy. As you know, we paused hiring as a result - we'd doubled staff the prior year - but our staffing levels were still a little bit too high given economic conditions. We discussed this as a team and presented our progress to the entire company weekly for over six months leading up to this. However, we were forced to restructure in order to cut costs and continue our growth more sustainably while the economy took time to recover. I'm sorry this impacted you, and I wish you the best.

Pros

Decent benefits and work life balance.

Cons

Code base is shabby at best. Management consist of two frat boys who don't know a thing about startups. Except how to blow through VC money with nothing to show for it. Current funding questionable. Working in Pioneer Square on a noisy street.

If you're an actual human, we're sorry it didn't work out and that you didn't come to anyone with questions or concerns. Best of luck.

Pros

Amazing benefits — my wife literally said, “I’d work there for the benefits alone.” Very organized company, logical corporate structure, and easy access to leadership and other departments when you need support. I feel valued here, supported, and like there’s real opportunity for growth. The industry and clients are great, and there’s a reason so many employees, including leadership, have been with the company for 3+ years. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.

Cons

Tough interview process, High standards can feel intimidating, Fast pace because demand is high
