Pros
In 2022 Evoke transitioned to a work-from-home environment which was nice.
Cons
As the most recent person to leave Evoke (to my knowledge), here's what others have already said on Glassdoor that I can confirm is still 100% true. - "The CEO has his eye on everyone, micromanaging every step of every project." - "Disrespecting employees is his daily routine." (I'll add that disrespect and belittling happen over virtual meetings and "in writing" on the CRM that Evoke uses, Basecamp, which the whole company and sometimes clients can read). - "He can't let go and micromanages everything (hovering art director to the extreme)." - "Now it’s time to prepare to be berated, insulted and micro-managed on a daily basis." - "A simple conclusion would be to say that you will be generally beaten down until you question your own ability." - "Owner does not empower staff to do their job independently." - "Does not pay employees properly, or on time (sometimes not at all)" (I'll add that my final pay was approaching three weeks late due to a "banking issue" and pay was frequently late). - " Owner's involvement in projects leads to miscommunication, wasting time and poor project management." - "No HR" (See "issues with payment") - "Management holds a sink or swim mentality. No time is taken to explain expectation, vague instruction is given and you're expected to run with it and management will not hesitate to throw you under the bus if anything goes wrong" (This happened to me personally, and I watched it happen to others). - "All projects are run like a trainwreck, no process or organization" - "Management pits own faults on the team rather than taking ownership." - "Was assured by the management team that the business was headed in a new direction and the culture had changed." (I also reached out to current employees and was told that "things were better now" but heard and experienced nothing but complaints and frustration while I was there). - "Behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable" I'll also add that your timesheet will be used as gospel and WILL be weaponized against you if Jeff decides he doesn't need you anymore. Let your timer run to hit the 8 hours outlined on your contract; anything less and you'll get humiliated. Jeff will see this review and dismiss me as a "disgruntled former employee" as he does for every other negative review on this website. While I was still employed there we had a meeting about improving "optics" (on Glassdoor specifically). Jeff told the current team which reviews belonged to which former employees (identified to us by full name), why they were obviously "disgruntled and upset about being fired," and why they were "terrible employees" anyway. After interviewing for Evoke I came to Glassdoor and my stomach sank at some of the horrible things people had to say about Evoke Solutions and Jeff Howard. Don't ignore your gut instinct and keep looking elsewhere.
