Pros
The compensation and benefits are good. Work life balance is nice.
Cons
The company is strained from an an archaic corporate structure. You can get lip service from leadership that there's an effort to improve but little seems to change. It's very hierarchical however, opportunities and advancement seems to be based on a game of favorites. To make things worse, there is little collaboration or community within the office. This builds into a toxic energy that's filled with unnecessary ego. One doesn't get the sense they are free to be creative or explore different lines of thinking, you need to conform with a workflow and the hierarchy. Leadership, particularly those in charge of "design" are taxing to work with. Despite the role of design director in the industry fading in favor of a team based approach, this firm seems to be doubling down. After some time here you are put into a box and your opportunity fades. Some design meeting can be such an anxiety filled experiences that you really feel exhausted. These comments are both before and after covid working situations.
