FIrst time worker in Healthcare

My first job in healthcare, and I really enjoy it. It introduced me to many different conditions and taught me a lot of patience. My grandma has dementia, and working here has taught me a lot about how I can help her and support her with daily living

Cons

Sometimes it can get a bit too much for your mental health. It is not an easy job to do, but it is very rewarding

Working with the service users was the most rewarding part of the job. Most staff members were friendly and approachable

Cons

There has been a high turnover of staff, which appears to be directly linked to management behaviour and the overall working environment. The workplace has a toxic culture where bullying is often present and not properly dealt with. Management comes across as condescending and controlling, frequently treating staff as if they are incapable rather than supporting or developing them. Favouritism and cliques are very noticeable and strongly influence how staff are treated, leaving those outside the inner circle feeling isolated, unsupported, and undervalued.

Sometimes meeting the deadlines and targets can be challenging but this part of the journey toward growth and capabilities. It was a really daunting prospect in my first year but over 3 years later and I have grown into my role and strengths.

Cons

I just love my home, I love the journey I have been on rebuilding the foundations of what was a very much focused home that had not been supported by the right team. Since the home manager and myself have taken over, over 3 years ago we have rebuilt a warm, loving, caring and stable home for both staff and service users
