Pros

Exponent is a lovely place to work. The clients have important missions and the people are dedicated and feel accountable to do good work. Not only are they dedicated but people are SMART. Very much enjoyed my team and clients.

Cons

Salaries are below industry standards. Exponent was remote first before lots of companies but that was the only perk they had. They do not have any paths to promotion. There are no other perks in sight. Benefits aren't special, PTO is standard, maternity leave is just FMLA. Leadership is fragmented, scattered and all fluff. Again, lovely people to talk to but you'll get nowhere fast. If there is an issue, 10 people (with senior titles) will come in to help get nothing solved. Churn is HIGH. Many people come in go in less than a year.

Pros

Nice people, lots of knowledge sharing, good benefits, competitive salary

Cons

Not equipped to handle some large scale projects they take on. High turn over in project managers on the project I was on. Senior management only gets involved when absolutely necessary when they should be more involved in some of these large projects from day 1.

Pros

This is the smartest collection of people I've ever been a part of. (It can be a little intimidating at times.) Despite that, there is a strong sense of camaraderie, even with the 100% remote workforce. Most are excellent at what they do and very mission-driven. They are also collaborative and interested in making sure there is a sense of inclusion and mutual support. There is a sincere effort to work on progressive values in support of diversity.

Cons

Overwork. It feels like crunch time all the time. I've been here a number of years now and for all of that time, management has indicated a goal of work/life balance. There are truly some great efforts, particularly in the recent bad times, but the crunch time does not let up. It only continues to get worse. Inadequate staffing, increasingly inefficient processes (don't keep adding layers to already ridiculous processes), and confusion about who has responsibility for what (and can actually make a call and resolve a situation) compound the problem.
