Pros
Central location in midtown (at the time... i guess they move around a bit), the fact most employees were miserable I was able to make friends with them to commiserate over drinks.
Cons
management looks down on employees and doesn't care about them at all. They always seem to be looking at you with a scrutinizing eye, expectations for on call (tied to your phone and computer all weekend and evenings when its your turn). I had tremendous anxiety over this place which quickly turned into depression. (All went away after I got a new job!), low moral with other employees, promised engineering role but immediately put into a helpdesk support role with no obvious escape. At the time, no insurance for 90 days after start. Paid monthly. After I quit I had to fight to get my final check with the help of a lawyer. Being young and strapped for money in NYC, that was an unexpected low, even for ExterinalIT. They wouldn't reply to any of my emails or voice mails about my last check. When they got a certified letter for a lawyer I had a check within 2 days. Also didn't send out my W2 without having to reach back out to them the next year. Everything thats terrible with a company is some how bundled into this place.
