Poor Work Life Balance

Recommend

Business outlook

Pros

Great Benefits, potential opportunities to make good money, profit sharing, discounts on products, sales bonuses, unique work environment, long term employees earn a lot of time off. This is a job you really have a lot of pride in, you make a direct impact on a clients home, both financially and aesthetically.

Cons

Male dominated field/workforce with minimal growth for females, less pay for females because of job offerings, little employee appreciation or branch acknowledgment, difficult customers with high expectations, must have extreme attention to detail or you will fall behind, corporate seems to have little understanding of day to day operations, very difficult to learn the vast amount of products (this takes real determination on the employees part to master), Approx 4 months training before FULLY confident selling, unrealistic expectations, overworked, no work life balance, most showrooms do not offer rotating weekends, so you will work a Saturday. Most showrooms also do not offer two days off in a row. Very hard to schedule time off. You will stress about work, you will lose sleep and struggle to recall your day, lost my voice from talking all day, missed lunch breaks, long work days.

Run for the hills

Pros

Great benefits like healthcare, EAP and profit sharing. Co-workers are nice to work with as they appreciate what you do for them.

Cons

Boys Club mentality, and local GM`s micromanage until the cows come home. It is expected to work 50+ hours a week and be reachable 24/7. Work life balance is non existent, IT is so outdated that my old C64 Computer is easier to work with. Upper management at Corporate seems to be disconnect or just turn a blind eye on everything, I heard it used to be a great place to work for, hopefully it will get back to its old Glory.

No Plan, Trapped In the Past, Toxic

Pros

Employee benefit package is good. Profit sharing at all levels.

Cons

Hopelessly outdated technology and systems; no motivation to change. Management highly toxic - bullying, screaming, swearing, near-physical altercations commonplace. Retaliation when any issues brought up to HR or management; CYA culture as a result. Disregard for COVID, limited to no ability to work from home. Formal diversity/inclusion non-existent.
