Pros

Remote work, most of the team are great to work with

Cons

Leaders do not have active listening skills. CEO doesn’t know what he wants to do with his company with constant restructuring. You get punished for providing objective feedback. Management would rather protect egos than deescalate and improve processes. Talent is treated expendable here so no wonder employees do not feel safe. You can get fired for no reason at all, so your job is really at the whims of your boss and the CEO. Unless you suck up, you won’t be given support and breakthroughs here. It’s all so small minded.

I respect your right to your opinion. At the same time, reading and responding to this review is very hard because it doesn't align at all with my own opinion and it's very disconnected to the feedback that I regularly receive from team members and the reputation that our agency has established in the marketplace. Rather than attempt to respond or refute your points, I will simply encourage anyone reading this who may be thinking of working at FKA to reach out to active team members to learn more about our culture and the way our agency is managed.

I appreciate the feedback and agree that there is always room for better communication and guidelines. But I'm not clear what you mean about shutting down during the holidays or overtime pay on the weekends. Regarding holidays, FKA observes all Alberta and Ontario statutory holidays and also closes the office every year on Christmas Eve, reopening on January 2. Team members are paid during this closure and in return, we ask that they check their email periodically. The media team is also asked to continue checking on their digital media campaigns during the closure. This is a common practice in the industry and part of working in advertising. Fundamentally, the paid closure during the year-end holidays is a nice benefit that comes with some responsibility—but if a team member wants to completely disconnect during that time, they can use vacation days. Regarding overtime, FKA pays or banks it for all team members, which is uncommon in the advertising industry. Any team member that works more than 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week will have that time paid out or banked.
