Pros

To be honest when I first started at this company in 2015 I loved it. I found that the hours were flexible, they had lots of over time and the pay was so-so okay considering I started as a webchat operator. But don't let this fool you...

Cons

Lets get real... these bogus reviews that people have left are laughable! For one, they have clearly been left by people who don't have a back bone and won't tell the truth, what I find hilarious is that clearly management have asked for these to be left due to the onslaught of truthful reviews. Now I left FM about 6/7 months ago but something has been niggling at me to leave this review due to the absolute terrible last 2 years I experienced at FM. 1. Bullying, yes this does happen and yes I spoke about this with HR - not that anything was done but hey ho. My manager was an absolute treat to work with, the manipulation techniques, the emotional blackmailing, the singling out of certain people in my team that made everyone including that person feel ridiculously uncomfortable. The pressure to do other peoples jobs as well my own. 2. HR process, not like FM follow them. Lets rule off all the mess ups shall we... never following correct disciplinaries which my manager handed out like sweets (no one from HR present) oh and left signed copies in drawers (GO CONFIDENTIALITY!!!). Or how about doctors notes, sick notes etc that were left in drawers... Let's talk about the fact that FM sacked someone without correct HR sign off, and how embarrassing it must of been for you all when that person appealed, won and you had to offer them their job back.. not that they stayed. 3. PDP's, let's just throw them out of the window shall we? Promise of these but in reality it's another meeting to get certain people out of doing their actual role... 4. Severely underpaid for my role, I was a trainer, QA checker for 5 plus campaigns (I think), I carried out Pit stops blah blah blah sounds like 2 different roles doesn't it? OH and let's not forget that you'll be thrown on campaigns to take customer chats/emails and social media whilst having to do your actual role at some point in the day. But will your TWO managers help? Nope... that work is beneath them. For all this ladies and gentlemen you'll be on a whopping 16,500 with no bonuses, whilst an operator who you've helped with their QA will more than likely get a bonus for the month and come out with nearly as much as you - HIGH FIVE! Supervisors get paid 1,000 more than you as well - not like me and my colleagues asked to be put on the same amount, that was rejected. 5. Progression, let's get one thing straight this doesn't really exist within FM unless you're family, a family friend, someone's girlfriend/boyfriend or just a big massive brown nose. 6. Flexibility - yes you are expected to be 100% flexible. Nevermind you have an actual life outside of work with friends and family - just change your hours with less than 24 hours notice from 8-4's to 2-10's. When you offer to work 8-4 but help out with over time, that's rejected because you guessed it - it will cost FM extra and they want that money in their pocket. Will your manager help out? Well you guessed it, nope because they have family (well don't we all?). 7. Higher management -seriously unapproachable verging on weird. 8. Work environment - dirty, out dated, dogs that literally wee and poo everywhere (seriously its disgusting). 9. Redundancies, are you qualified for the job? Yes! Then don't worry you'll still be made redundant even though they keep all of their family safe. And after all this never forgot to plaster a fake smile on your face and be positive all the time, because you need to help with the whole company engagement, whilst we mask over the actual underlying issues of the lack of progression, pay etc. Jokes aside, honestly one of the worst companies that suck you in with false promises. Don't be fooled by the 5* reviews, why would I take 20 minutes out of my life to write this review if it wasn't true.

Pros

I was at arts college when I started working here, and most others were also students. The people at the same level as you are very nice; everyone hates working there so there's always someone on your level to talk to. I can't think of any more pros of working there.

Cons

To make this very clear - this is nothing more than a sweatshop call centre operation. They'll tart up the job and the company but at the core, that's all it is. As a result - that's how you'll be treated working there. You are paid at the minimum wage (and that won't increase), given the bare minimum of breaks and you are monitored so much that if you dare need two toilet breaks during four hours, be expected to be pulled up on it. Shifts involve answering webchats en masse; but their rock bottom cost means that you have to do three (sometimes four) webchats simultaneously, in addition to other methods of contact (i.e. emails) so essentially, you have six things on the go at once. There's very little support whilst you're doing these - the supervisors are already so busy and being hounded by management to make everybody work faster, so you're on your own. Conversations with angry customers can take anything from 10-20 minutes (sometimes 30+ in extreme situations) to complete but you're expected to do 18 of them per hour - or you face disciplinary action. Furthermore, you don't actually get your legal break entitlement and you end up working more time than your shift (with the extra unpaid) because you're expected to start these conversations upto 5 minutes before you're due to finish / have your break. And naturally, since the Web Chats take so long to complete, you're almost guaranteed to never finish on time. Say goodbye to any bank holidays too. You're not entitled to have them as holiday (and can't book them as holiday) and you're not told you have to work them, it's just expected. Naturally management are nowhere to be seen on those days. I have heard of numerous staff broken down by the pressure you're put under - several people(including a good friend) were signed off with work related stress, and others having breakdowns on shift and being disciplined as a result. It's not a happy atmosphere. I understand work involves pressure however it's massively disproportional considering the wage you're on. Changes of progression are extremely slim. The majority of the people who get promoted are either related to senior management, or in a relationship with them (yes, really) and everyone else doesn't have much of a change - largely because they resign or are let go after less than a year. It's one massive revolving door. Finally - the management. The supervisors are generally nice but they're under equal amounts of pressure. Anyone higher up does not really care - their main and only focus is to work out how to make people work harder to increase their profit margin which is then used to give themselves a pay rise or take holidays (which they then post pictures of to the work engagement system, how thoughtful...). The entire "FM Family" mantra that's repeated constantly is shallow and not followed through. Sure, you might get a few custard creams in the office but if you've got any concerns they're just ignored. If you're thinking of working here - my advice - particularly to College and University students who they target: find somewhere else where you've got a chance of progressing and can actually balance your work with everything else in your life. I've worked for twelve years and have never hated working somewhere more.
