Pros

The ability to serve a wide range of clients

Cons

I want to work for the place they advertise. The marketing is great and makes employees and clients think this is a great experience. Incredibly high turnover- they used to list the planners and our bios and removed it after turnover became rampant. One month you can get a promotion to director of planning, and the next, you will be fired. Moving targets that cannot be hit- they design the incentive plan for it not to be reached. Expect to work 80 hours a week to meet their minimum standard. They do not care about employees or clients. This company is run by out-of-touch bros trying to sell as quickly as possible. They do not care about the well-being of their staff, and it is not a culture that wants to hear anything a planner wants to say. They want workhorses who shut their mouth, smile and act like the happiest person on Slack while working 12-hour days.

Pros

Work from home, okay pay (but no raises for planning team in over two years), good parental benefits, you get to work with mass-affluent clients

Cons

No work/life balance, executive leadership is completely out of check with the reality of how much work there is to be done daily, continual moving targets (good luck hitting an onboarding goal and having any semblance of a life outside of work), the dev team is vastly understaffed and as such they make planning tools and technology features that are largely incomplete and inefficient, you have to manage a book of 200+ households (average meeting count per week is 20+ meetings), most tenured staff members transfer out of planning roles to other roles in the company to work less or they leave altogether.

Pros

The salary is decent. Working from home is a definite plus. Being able to serve regular people instead of millionaires is great.

Cons

Planning team management is awful. Your goals are a moving target. They expect you to have 20+ client meetings, run all of the analysis, monitor the investments, maintain all admin work, and carry a client load of 200 clients. The "planning tools" are no better than online calculators. Expect 12 hour days every day. The management team will gaslight you when you speak up and ask for change. They will continually point the blame back to you as a planner rather than admit that their goals are unrealistic. Pay attention to the negative reviews. This is how most planners feel at Facet, but can't say anything out of fear of losing their jobs.
