-its SO overstimulating. The arcade is never quiet and all of the games have their own music. In the summer, there's also a kids dance party so that's another level of music on top and it's deafening. The bumper cars screech so badly it hurts my soul. I bought loop earplugs for when I run them.
-guests yell at you for dumb things. It's retail with more steps so be prepared for entitled people who want discounts and free things just because. They will never. Ever. Read any sign. It doesn't matter how big it is or that it's at eye level. They won't read it and they will be mad you that they didn't know what was on it. The company also doesn't want you to put up hand written signs because they're ugly I guess. This might be a rule from our partner company but it's still annoying. So you will have to refund people a lot when machines don't work and you have no means of telling the crowd that. Guests don't like coming to counters for things like that.
-base pay is okish but with low hours outside of summer, it doesn't matter. Each paycheck is very small if you're part time.
-if you take a snow room, you need to buy or pack your own food as the resort prioritizes guests.
-you work most holidays which is when it's the busiest with the rudest guests. Those shifts are long.
-our location has no ac in the summer so you're sweating nonstop the entire shift. Or it's too weak to work with how many people are in the arcade that time of year. You will need a high strength deodorant.
