Pros
None for the company, making a difference for the youth we serve despite the horrible company.
Cons
There is not adequate training or support for the crisis situations we face. Upper management has no idea what it’s like to work in the residential home. They hire and fire on a whim and you are forced to work with unqualified employees and managers that bully and make working with the youth more challenging by poor decision making. You also get promises of good pay and vacation time but raises don’t happen often and you can never take time off because there is no one to work in your place and then they won’t pay you your vacation time when you leave. They also changed health insurance every year the 5 1/2 years I worked for them which makes it hard to have consistent care. Also forget about taking time off if you’re really sick they hound you to come back or treat you like garbage when you do so no one takes care of themselves and it’s a high stress job with a toxic work environment. There is also a lack of professionalism in the agency where managers are under qualified and get perks for no reason even when their programs are tanking.
