Pros
Been with FeedbackFruits since directly after founding. Seen the tough times and the good times, in struggle or success. The early days had times of intense pressure to survive, and this is a great test of character. Such times are when the character of a company comes out, and this is exactly what makes me a vocal advocate. Rarely do you see such a blend where there's a determination to succeed and innovate ourselves out of it, positivity, yet with such openness to critique and correction. If you see something that you believe can be done better, this is not the company where you're shushed. The character of the management system (flat, open, encouraging taking responsibility) makes change for the better the norm, not the exception. The CEO, Ewoud has - without doubt - played a pivotal role in this, and it's an honor to work with him. Though the hiring policy can be strict, this has resulted in the acquisition of talent that continues to make it a joy to work with and learn from. I feel incredibly fortunate to have working this long with a team of lovable and capable people. The role-fit mentality makes it easy to develop your career internally, and I'm happy to have grown and changed roles several times already. Starting with a code-only background, growing into e.g. UX design and ethics. The above cover merely conventional criteria that most talent looks for. Practical requirements for success within capitalism. Not appreciated by many, but personally the primary reason to work here is the company purpose: fixing education! There would have been much "weaker" targets we could have picked with such a team, from a pure profitability point of view. FeedbackFruits picks a tough, much-needed fight. One that has been systematically neglected to the point where I believe this is starting to become an existential threat to the long term stability of society. Many will recognize aching problems around us, from fake new, political polarization and a steep rise in populism. A trend of political dysfunction, a culture of science denial and lying is pointing in the wrong direction. And we're all seeing the consequences: climate change, a rise in conspiracy thinking, mismanagement during the Corona pandemic, etc. I believe these symptoms of a complex chain of cause and effect are fundamentally rooted in the institutions where we're supposed to learn how to think: education! We direly need to cultivate a generation of citizens, voters and consumers to realign politics and markets, bottom up. In my opinion there are unfortunately too few organizations which are both profoundly aware of this and taking ownership of this problem, and this is exactly what makes FeedbackFruits an outlier. Though we can't pretend to have already fixed this yet, I'm confident FeedbackFruits is one of few places where we're on a strong track to have a global impact on this. If you're passionate about fixing this problem too, this is your place to join the fight.
Cons
As a relatively young company, with many first-time managers in their career, some operations might feel less mature than at an established corporation. Some processes are still taking shape, which can also be an opportunity. With the mission we're picking, and the market we're operating in, there's without doubt companies where have a bigger budget for compensation packages. If you're looking for the fattest paycheck, there surely are better options, but also at the expense of the purpose of your work I bet.
