Not the worst company I've ever been, but definitely the most toxic

Pros

1, Never have to go to the office if you don't want to 2, The office is really nice though if you DO want to go 3, There are a lot of cool ppl that work there especially the product and marketing ppl 4. pay is good from what i have heard around madison

Cons

1. People have said it a bunch, but the CTO has created such a toxic dictatoral type of culture where everybody is scared of him...he has unfortunately gotten the rest of the company leadership on board with this "radical candid" vision...and it has spread like a virus, def a culture of fear here 2, It is a fully remote company , but they're forcing people to try & hire only within Madison/Chicago/Birmingham...make up your mind 3, it was never clear to me how the company is really doing financials wise - we would have these monthly town halls that are all positivity and suddenly we have lay offs...i did not get laid off, i quit for another role, but still...be more honest

Not worth the abuse

Pros

The unlimited PTO is real, and line managers encourage you to take it. Individual teams / managers are supportive and positive. No set schedule or deadlines, and radical developer freedom (more on this in the cons).

Cons

Fetch has leaders who are absolutely convinced it's the best place to work in the world, and they had me fooled for a while. They tell you they care about your wellbeing, and the wellness coach does. However, they impose unreasonable standards for app performance (sometimes outside of the engineer's control) and expect a level of urgency that is completely unhealthy. Multiple times the entire tech org was expected to work through the weekend because the CTO said so. The overwork would actually be tolerable if it weren't for the public humiliation. The design reviews are really just a chance for the CTO and his favorite engineers to talk down to people and make them look/feel stupid. The CTO has also openly stated that he doesn't care about how he makes you feel and that engineers are expected to tolerate any abuse he dishes out at any time, and how he delivers that "feedback" is irrelevant. It's good pay, it was a good team, it had good benefits, but it will never be worth being publicly humiliated over the tiniest mistakes and being expected to produce perfect work or be shamed for it. There's no concept of improvement here, if it doesn't match some arbitrary standard set by the CTO, it goes in the garbage.

Poor Leaders are Rotting a Once Great Company

Pros

Unlimited PTO Volunteer opportunities Many good people

Cons

The leadership at the company is an absolute mess and it's changing the entire company. The c-suite is playing musical chairs replacing new heads constantly so no one can actually learn about the true challenges going on...the ones who do know, are getting out before the company crumbles. Lower managers are people who are fun to be around, but terrible managers. Feedback for growth is unheard of since managers are often not working with you so they just listen through the grapevine to figure out if you're liked or not. If you don't suck up to the right people, you'll never be promoted. More time is spent on optics than actually work. The best sales data is plucked out to stop the company from immediately going under. If you work here, don't expect to have a job after the next year, maybe two if the bullshitters keep up doing a good job at bullshitting. Women of color are not seen in leadership. Black men and white women rarely are seen in leadership. If English is not your first language, this is not the company for you. The microagressions from leaders feels like death by a thousand paper cuts. This company is doomed unless it does a real look at its leaders and changes things, and fast.
