They hire and fire like a you're on contract

Pros

For a time, they had the best and brightest people working for them. It was a place of growth and empowerment.

Cons

They hire people locally under the guise of full time work, but instead they abuse people's talents. They hire someone to do one specific project, then do "layoffs" once the main work is done and pass the completed work to their India teams. They laid off all the best people who were helping to create a thriving and happy work environment, leaving just a clueless leadership who doesn't understand their own business or how to work towards long-term success. With layoffs, they provided the bare minimum. 2 weeks. And they structure employment contracts so you lose bonuses when you leave (i.e. get $ after 1 year, but they let you go before they pay out).

Pros

Hands down the people - they are passionate and caring. Working from home is a pro but it’s not right for everyone.

Cons

Lack of engineering competence. Poor strategy, leadership, and communication. Buggy product not built to scale. Engineering team in India creates time-zone and language barriers that result in slow and poor execution. Lack of security and trust: lots of hiring followed by big layoffs In a 6 month period. Not achieving growth plan. Benefits package is weak and lacks RRSP matching.

There are only 2 good things about Figbytes: 1. The company has, for the time being, attracted some really amazing people with their ambitious company mission. 2. The health benefits package provides a higher-than-normal allotment for therapy. You will need it to survive here.

Cons

TL;DR: RUN FAR AWAY.   This is definitely the place to work if you are intrigued about the Dunning-Kruger effect. It has a strong hold on the leaders. The product is nothing more than to show how “amazing” and “smart” the leaders are. Everyone else is just a tool to achieve that. Try speaking up as an expert in your profession? You will be shamed and criticized - there is no room for making knowledgeable choices here. If you keep quiet and do as you are told (or drag your weight), then the leaders will defend you tooth and nail. At least... until they don’t get the result they hoped for, then you are thrown under the bus. I also agree with the information shared in the other neg reviews.
