Established company hindered by poor leadership and toxic culture

Pros

Well-established company with a rich history.

Cons

The company is run by a group of uninspiring and incompetent leaders with zero EQ, some with highly questionable ethics. Many of the non-executive staff are like zombies, working aimlessly with their heads down and oblivious (by choice) to the unfair, unethical and unjust treatment handed out regularly to employees around them. Don't even get me started on HR.

Good food, but too much office politics

Pros

Good food for events and pantry. That's all.

Cons

Too much politics that flows down all the way to the lowest employment grades. Deliberate move to cut costs.

Talented people, but leadership and culture challenges

Pros

Convenient office location. The Innovation team stands out with strong industry knowledge and a positive attitude. There are talented individuals across the organisation who work hard despite the broader challenges.

Cons

Leadership is the biggest issue. The CEO does not appear to have the leadership capability required to run the organisation effectively, resulting in a lack of clear strategic direction. Decisions often feel reactive rather than strategic, making it difficult for teams to plan and execute effectively. Staff turnover has been extremely high, and many capable and experienced people have left the organisation in recent years. Good people continue to leave while the underlying leadership issues remain unchanged. The environment often reflects a short-term approach to talent management rather than a focus on developing and retaining people. The company operates within a private equity ownership structure, which can reinforce a strong short-term performance focus. HR is widely perceived as protecting management rather than acting in the best interests of employees, which has eroded trust internally.
