Pros

A few employees try to hold onto their positive attitude and are willing to go the extra mile in the face of adversity, which generall is coming from the president and CFO.

Cons

The President Michele Johnson routinely speaks disrespectful l and down to people. She has made the statement that "you people are disposable. She makes the employees clean the restroom and kitchen, also provide refreshments for staff meetings. She will not provide sanitary conditions so requests paper towels, toilet seat covers, Kleenex or out! She has all the employees calls recorded but does not record hers or the CFO. This way there is no record of the incredulous things she says to employees over the phone. One of her favorite pass times is listening in to employees calls then sending countless, pointless emails on what they said. She co-mingles funds from various grants and makes it as difficult as possible for anyone to receive utility assistance or any other financial help. If you want an "Email War" she is the person. She will email you every day, all day about nothing. If she forgot to do something, or sign something...its your fault. The worse part is she always CC a copy to the CFO who knows that it is nonsense, but says nothing. Behind her back she will tell the employee not to worry and "that's just how Michele is" but to her face she becomes as a mute! Michele has place an unskilled inexperienced person with no formal higher education in a management capacity so that this person would be, for lack of a better word, tattletale and every day report anyone who they heard talking, taking a bathroom break, breathing, etc. The turnaround on employees is horrible. The morale is despicable, For Christmas they had a gift exchange and were told to buy another person a gift for $5??. Dress codes change based on what will fit Michele, things like no open toed shoes was a result of her stubbing her toe on a table. Bilingual employees are not allowed to speak their language except on a phone call, not even on lunch or breaks. No fitted slacks, no dresses without sleeves - even though employees work and live in the Desert where temperatures top 100. She runs tri-merge credit reports unncessarily so she can bill grants for them. Reports are cut and pasted instead of comuter generated as they can be modified to say whatever she wants that way no matter how unreliable they are. She never has anything nice to say or do for any employee, not even when you have a family emergency or death. Her one skill is being a chameleon as she appears to the outside world as if she cares! When one young lady quit she left an email stating "Michele Johnson is a evil!" She was correct

Pros

Good for padding a resume.

Cons

Is it possible to give a negative rating? All of the previous reviews are so true but there is also so much more to be added. The CEO Michele Jonhson's leadership style is through bulling, intimidation and threats of termination. She has no management skills and shows her disdain for her employees on a constant basis through berating and humiliating them in front of others. She will give inconsistent direction all within a 15 minutes and then ask why you did it the why you did after following her directions. When she is able to secure new programs employees are thrown into attempting to executed without any direction or foresight of what is involved and are then berated for not knowing what is expected. She miromanages and monitors EVERYTHING all emails and in office instant messages. She trusts no one and treats her employees as though they are all stealing from her. She also pits department against department against department and individuals against each other. She also treats employees as though as imbicels that cannot function with out her direction even on minute task. She begins to build a case to fire employee the day they are hired and has them sign paperwork for everything no matter how trivial. Unless you can provide her with meaningful connections you mean nothing to her. Favoritism is blatant and obvious. Management is an extension of the CEO as she tears into them as well. When ask for direction they will berate you for not knowing and then threaten termination for not knowing because they do not know the answer. They will give directions that are contradictory and then say they don't remember giving the previous directions. The answers you receive are based on who you get them from and conflict with other managers and the CEO's. It is a rare occasion when they are on the same page and they like the CEO have limited knowledge of the functioning or information needed to fulfill the positions they manage. Reviews, when received, are all about how incompetent the employee is and how they are not meeting expectations. Staff meetings are the same. Forget about raises except for the chosen few and are generally .25 an hour. The underlying system for all employees including management is to cover your butt even it it means lying and throwing others under the bus to do so. Team work is not encouraged. An employee is expected to blindly follow dictates even if they make no sense, keep your mouth shut, complete all tasks assigned along with you primary responsibilities all within unachievable time limits. What is most important is that you get the bodies in, collect the paperwork for a billable session and get the bodies out. Seniority does not exist. Bottom line is that employees are set up to fail so there can always be a reason for termination. And the list goes on. Saddest part of all is that due to the time constraints imposed and the paperwork (a lot of which is unnecessary) clients get cheated.

Pros

The CFO is the heart and soul of the agency, although over-worked and under appreciated. The employees do the best that they can while dealing with ever-shifting management decisions and priorities. The agency offers many programs and services that are of benefit to the community.

Cons

Michele Johnson, president/CEO is the embodiment of bad management practices. If anyone is looking for an example of how not to manage a business and its employees, look no further. Discussions about employees that should be had in private, between the CEO and COO, instead happen in the hallways within earshot of other employees. The turnover is ridiculous most employees announce their departure by just no longer showing up to work, others leave mid-shift. If it were one or two employees that did this that would be one thing, but when it happens again and again...look to management. The majority of current employees are just biding their time while pursuing other employment. The CEO runs the agency with a do as I say, not as I do ethos. Employees are responsible for reminding her on a daily basis of tasks she needs to accomplish. I'm sorry but aren't you too old to need a babysitter? It is not my job to constantly remind you to do your job! If you get on her bad side she will just stop talking to you and/or responding to emails, very professional Michele, very professional! The only way to advance is by being someone that the CEO perceives as someone that she can control and manipulate. The minute you buck her, look out it's the beginning of the end.
