I have been working at FireEye full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great technology and some very clever people in parts of the company. Decent benefits, and the stock price seems to be getting stronger again.

    Cons

Recent overhaul of management has put a group of people in charge of the company who appear to be out of their depth. They have zero understanding of the security market, and even less clue about working in a fast paced, high growth environment, so the energy has all but disappeared. What was once an inspiring company to work for is now a bit of a yawn.

    Advice to Management

Stop being reactive to the stock market, and re-tune in to employees. Having sales staff spend all of their time reporting rather than doing their day job and visiting customers might be a positive step also. Communicate better with staff about changes and direction rather than ambushing them.

I have been working at FireEye full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Absolute leader in cyber security: helping companies respond, detect and avoid cyber threats. Mandiant, iSight, Verodin brands are recognized leaders - Management cares - Strong ONE TEAM culture - Unlimited vacation - Relatively good work-life balance - Rapidly improving products, led by intelligence and innovation cycle

    Cons

    - Very competitive, established market for security products - Still transitioning from legacy hardware business comes with some pain

    Advice to Management

None. I trust Kevin. His vision is solid.

I have been working at FireEye full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work life balance is good. Teams are friendly and helpful. Compensation paid is upto industrial standards. 24x7 pantry available for everyone. Work is really good and you get to learn a lot. Higher management is easily approachable. Flexible working hours.

    Cons

Although you get free food, you end up getting your own lunch after a few months. Company stocks have been going a bit down recently. Less number of employee benefits as compared to other big companies

I worked at FireEye full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Higher than average pay, restricted stock grants.

    Cons

Pays for health insurance. But won't pay the ~$50/year it costs to maintain a 401k account. Repeatedly hires one team to develop a product, lets them go, then has to hire a second team to maintain the product. Except the second team has no historical knowledge of why a product was made the way it was, and may take twice as long to do anything. Extreme politics with managers trying to undermine each other.... Deadlines are repetitively missed by several months with no one penalized. Workers in Sales, QA, etc., will privately discuss how they expect product launches to crash and burn. But they will not escalate anything to management "because that's how FireEye does things." They even may discuss when they expect you to be laid off, as well as their own expected last day.

    Advice to Management

FireEye spends lavishly on customer-facing roles. But internal engineering is rotting. The intangible costs of how FireEye develops products far exceeds any benefit from the reduction in salaries and headcount. Talk to your customers. They often have a very different view of FireEye than FireEye tries to paint publicly. FireEye's inability to perform is reflected in its stock performance relative to peers.... Focus on what the company is known for; do not go into new areas which already have brand-name firms and are highly competitive.
