Disappointing Company, Technology, and Management

Remote-first is very nice. Team members are good people

Cons

Management is very non-communicative, struggles to give clear direction. Mislead a ton of employees and very out-of-the-blue let go of about half of the staff after telling people there was 3-5 years of runway. Those of us who are left are left wondering if we're next. People, especially Marketing, talk up the technology but it's actually very immature.

There are opportunities to learn more about database internals. Some solid engineers in the company help guide architecture well

Cons

Feels like the competition is flying past whilst we're stuck working on the pet project of a few. The past year has been tough on the company culturally with many big personalities gone and those who are left are either siloed or cold and robotic. Lots of rumours / evidence of performance-based cuts but it isn't talked about. Some bad quality engineers.

Pros

Culture of no BS, freedom to work flexibly from home or office (I come to the office very rarely, only for social reasons). People are both nice and serious. Good pay, good gear and swag and generally an optimistic vibe of almost inevitable success.

Cons

Very hardcore technology b2b SaaS company, so for all the folks who are not from the field - will always feel like they don't fundamentally understand how it actually works..
