Disappointed, forced return to office, lost culture

Pros

The main reason I came here was to remain working remote (I already had a remote role somewhere else) and because I saw opportunities for growth within FB. I came here because I heard about a good culture and I really liked my hiring manager during the interview process.

Cons

Recently there was a big management change and any/all workers were forced back to a physical location. This included anyone who was given a 100% remote offer and even people who lived out of state. People out of state are being told they have to move isth no extra pay. Overall, this decision has killed the morale, work productivity and overall pride in being a FB employee. Many employees have stated they have lost trust in the bank's leadership. Countless examples were given by a variety of departments proving they were more effective working remotely throughout the past years but management basically shrugged it off and told employees they would like the change. Many employees left other big banks to work for FirstBank to be part of a better culture/team that treats their employees more as an individual and for their mentality of "doing the right thing". However, this decision has brought to light that leadership no longer cares or is willing to maintain this environment. Separately the 401k match is not up to par with other companies. Health insurance and PTO are middle of the road.

Challenges with recent changes

Pros

On a positive note, the most rewarding aspect of working at FB has been the strong bonds and friendships I've forged with my coworkers. The collaborative and supportive atmosphere among team members has been a source of motivation and camaraderie.

Cons

I've been with FB for several years, and it's disheartening to see the direction the company has taken in recent times. While I have had some positive experiences here, I feel compelled to share my concerns about the recent changes. One of the things that initially attracted me to FB was the flexibility and trust they placed in their employees. However, over the past few months, there has been a significant shift in this regard. The company has decided to enforce a mandatory return to the office policy, which has left many of us feeling unheard and frustrated. This abrupt change has eroded the trust that employees once had in the company's leadership. Additionally, the removal of flexibility in work arrangements has negatively impacted work-life balance for many of us. It's disappointing to see the company moving away from the practices that once made it a great place to work. What's even more concerning is the loss/potential loss of top talent throughout the organization. Many of our most skilled and dedicated colleagues have chosen to search for opportunities that align more closely with their values and needs. It's clear that these departures have had a ripple effect on morale and productivity. I hope that FB takes these concerns seriously and reevaluates its approach to workplace policies and employee well-being. A company is only as strong as its employees, and losing top talent is not a sustainable path forward.

Pros

Before the RTO insanity, every co-worker was amazing and welcoming. They have (had) some incredibly talented people.

Cons

As all the other negative reviews have stated, the culture was completely crushed by an unreasonable demand by the CEO to eliminate all remote positions (without severance) practically overnight. We were completely gaslit or given unfounded claims when pushed for answers as to why. We were told productivity reports (at other companies!) said people work more hours in the office. When speaking to HR about the terms of an employment offer, they say they can change anytime and don’t need to discuss it. They have demanded all employees commute to an office cubicle to take their Teams’ calls. If I wanted a call center job, I would’ve applied for one. If you’re reading this and considering working for this place, remember they are not your “family.” They only care about their bottom line. They don’t care about you, your family, your mental health, or your financial situation. They will eliminate your job or change the terms of your offer without any warning at any time.
