Pros

Good friends with some faculty, positive student evaluations mostly, pleasant and cooperative most of the time.

Cons

Had one of the most racist, divisive, evil colleagues on the face of the planet, just an awful, miserable person who harassed me constantly, most of the time over nothing or things that were absolutely none of here business, and who abused students by gossiping about them behind their backs or humiliating them in class if they disagreed with her petty politics. Corruption and money mishandled at highest levels of administration. Hazel O'Leary had a terrible temper from all accounts and was verbally abusive of some staff. Terrible maintenance, they hardly ever fixed anything because there's never money to do so. IT equipment used in classrooms is often in disrepair, students steal batteries out of remotes, just endless problems. Money mysteriously disappears from special accounts, meaning that somebody likely embezzles it who shouldn't have access to said accounts.

Pros

Historic buildings Great Location Great students great reputation

Cons

Facilities need improving-old buldings, with pest control issues Current president need to get out among the students more Unethical and incompetent leaders are facilitated, but good people are chased away/dismissed Trustee board hire for politics instead of asking staff and faculty for advise Need to use their prime location to build a revenue generator like a jazz & RB music, restaurant entertainment venue. This is music city and others establishments are making millions while Fisk starves. You've been here for over 150 years...you should be at big as Belmont University.....

Complete disaster (honest review)

Pros

None that outweigh the Cons.

Cons

- First off, the current president is a joke (as a professional and as a person), what an ego maniac, with a God syndrome, but also a coward because he is nowhere to be found when actually needed (case in point, he's been president for over a year now, and this site still shows the previous president)... wake up sir!!! - If the president is a joke, the people he hires (because they are friends) are also jokes. They are not leaders, they are bosses. In this case the saying is true: people don't quit on jobs, they quit on bosses. - Everyone operates out of fear; therefore, everyone is very quick to blame others, rather than have a constructive conversation, and work together towards a solution. - Pay is super low (always a low budget), no overtime allowed, yet required to constantly (pretty much always) work over 40 hours a week, and sometimes required (mandatory) to work all weekend. - No processes in place, and whenever someone mentions the idea of creating a process to improve service, that person is silenced HARD! - Lack of proper planning is an understatement.... there simply is NO PLANNING. - If it weren't for the historic nature of the campus and the HBCU support it receives from the community at large, this schools would close in 6 months. - The list could go on and on with specific examples, but it would have to be through a different forum, not here.
