I have been working at Fitbit full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A company at the cutting edge of technology, creating great products and encouraging people to lead healthier, happier and more active lives. The work culture is fantastic to be a part of and it's great to be surrounded by colleagues of the highest standard.

    Cons

None so far, though if I had to pick something it would be the challenges of keeping up in such a fast growing business.

    Advice to Management

Be proud of what you have created, stick to the business core values, keep up the hard work and future success will follow

    I worked at Fitbit full-time

    Pros

A really great mission underlies this company - "Making the world a healthier place". Who couldn't get aligned with that mission? In past, there has been a great external brand, image and connection to the world. Made you proud to be part of it.

    Cons

This is an HBR text book case of the impact of Leadership. The company had everything going for it, and has really floundered due to inexperienced and a really out-dated approach to building a company, executing on a vision and cultivating employee engagement, connection and loyalty. The two founders are simply inexperienced and take far too long to catch on to what matters and often just don't. The CFO has a classic 1970s/80s mindset. Anything employee related is an expense that can be cut without a second thought and then wonders why there is 40% turnover. So many talented people gave it their all and then gave up. The replacements are mediocre of course, because the brand has lost it's appeal. What A players are going to leave great roles to join Fitbit now? Really sad actually. Could have been such a great story.

    Advice to Management

Start over with your philosophy. You've really lost the plot. Employees simply can't come last. The turnover you are experiencing is unfortunately so well deserved, and could have so easily been avoided. You kind of need great talent to execute on a strategy, but that seems to be a difficult concept for the Exec team to grasp.

I have been working at Fitbit full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Great, intelligent people
-Fun culture/environment (fun perks like weekly happy hours, Workout Wednesdays)
-Universal mission that everyone is passionate about -- lots of products and new opportunities to be excited about

    Cons

Fitbit has grown very quickly and wasn't able to keep up in some aspects - organizational communication leaves a lot to be desired for and lots of processes/programs that should be put in place for such a large company are either underdeveloped or don't exist at all. This leads to a lot of unnecessary work/time/effort spent on things that could be better put to use. Some senior/exec management is also unaligned and disconnected.

I have been working at Fitbit full-time

    Pros

Great aspirations, good intentions, some awesome folks who are a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

Feels like the customers and products come first, with employee well-being trailing far behind.

    Advice to Management

It only takes one bad apple in management to ruin something good. When you see high turnover in one section of a department you might want to talk to the little guys on that team.
