Despite all the cool perks and social hour zoom calls, the luster of Flatfile wears off pretty quickly when you see how you and your colleagues are treated from the C level down. It's truly disgusting to see how Flatfile treats the employees that have proven their worth and worked hard to deliver for the business. Don't expect regular reviews or raises, you'd have to either absorb the duties of 3 people or threaten to leave if you want your compensation adjusted. Either that or pucker up and get in good with some of the leadership. As long as you do everything management says without question, you'll get your head pats.
The company claims to be sensitive to people's needs outside of work, but I've seen several people that clearly needed some time off who were hand slapped for their absence. Unlimited PTO is indeed just a scam to not pay out accrued vacation hours when someone leaves, I think many people in the industry know this by now.
If you decide to work here, just know you'll be dealing with some big egos which usually lead to terrible decisions and verbal abuse of your teammates. Joining the sales team? Good luck making commission after seeing how obviously developer focused the products are. It's not exactly easy to sell a product when you don't understand the workflow/docs that were designed with programmers in mind. Totally closes the door on non-developer personas and limits the ICP to those that are very experienced with Javascript. I really hope Flatfile makes a decision to fix the many issues with existing products before moving on to the next splashy thing.
