Pros

Active Schedule, helping constituents, benefits. Your job as a LA is only as good and productive as the elected official you are serving. If the elected official is horrible, your job will feel horrible. Best advice to an LA: pick an elected official that demonstrates integrity and respect for their aides.

Cons

feels like high school up at the Capitol in Tallahassee. with lots of political gaming and professional positing. The pay is not great. Certain offices can be completely incompetent.

Pros

You get to meet lots of people, both friendly and not so friendly depending on which committee you work for. Dealing with lobbyists can get tiring, but it makes the days go by faster and they are fairly interesting. There is always something new going on everyday and it is nice to see how the Legislature works.

Cons

You have to bust your butt during session and have to stay late almost every night. The committee staff is generally helpful but gets very stressed during Legislative Session and may take it out on you. Unless you are a regular employee, you do not receive benefits.
