I worked at Flybe full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I have been working at Flybe (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good time off, only really work for half the year.

    Cons

Terrible managers, and pay is below UK average.

    Advice to Management

Get a grip. Look at other mro's, copy some successful ones. Simple.

    Pros

Cheap travel to lots of interesting locations, and nice people at middle manager level. I'm afraid that's about it.

    Cons

This is a company that doesn't care about their people - there's a hire and fire culture and it starts at the top.

    Advice to Management

Take culture seriously and stop paying lip service to it. Recognise it's not all about the top people making as much money as possible but about being fair to everyone else.

I have been working at Flybe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Someone described the airline as like a big family and that about sums it up really. By and large there is a positive vibe. People have a good attitude to work. Travel perks are good and you are entitled to travel on partner airlines as well as FlyBe.

    Cons

Probably the lowest pay of all the commercial airlines. And there is little pay equality across the airline. People sitting in the same room doing the same job earn vastly different amounts. Career progression prospects not good. Expect to start at the bottom and work your way up whatever your background. And don't expect to get a senior position unless you are friends with the senior managers.

    Advice to Management

You need to be more visible. You work behind closed doors and you seem so far removed from the front line your staff wonder whether you are out of touch. You need to work on rewarding talent rather than time in service.

I have been working at Flybe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Dynamic environment, generally friendly place to work and senior leadership team are getting to grips with turning the business into something more consistently profitable

    Cons

Poor benefits - bare minimum in terms of pension, annual leave, etc. You have to sign away your rights under the working time directive and they expect you to be available 24 hrs a day/ 7 days a week.

    Advice to Management

Value your staff and try to be at least as good an employer as others in the region

I worked at Flybe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company has good incentives for crew and when things go wrong (i.e. delays) you are often paid extra for them.
The job itself is pretty straight forward and isn't hard work at all.

    Cons

Working conditions can be poor with unreliable, dated aircraft which causes a lot of disruption.
Crew that are under 25 aren't paid the living wage which is disappointing and when you are over 25 and promoted to senior there isn't much of a difference in pay.

I have been working at Flybe full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people. Longevity. Flexi-time. Ability to 'buy' more holiday over the standard 25 days per year. Free flights (1 per year) and discounted flights with other airlines, and very cheap standby tickets.

    Cons

Below market average pay, not much opportunity for progression. Very much an 'us and them' mentality between workers and management

    Advice to Management

Bring salaries at least in line with market average. Understand the roles and complexities of the jobs that the people under you carry out.
