Try to Keep your Head Above Water

Pros

- Great staff and members. You cannot get a better community like this one - Technology is top notch - Taking Classes when possible... which is probably once or twice a week.

Cons

- Extremely poor upper management. Direct supervisor is neither empathetic nor approachable. - Pay is not nearly enough for the amount of hours you put it. Pulling from another review, "A Business Roller-coaster," work/life balance is completely non-exisitant due to the expectation to be on call 24/7. - Burning out and feeling like you cannot keep your head above water. - Weather your the top studio or worst studio, the NY team only cares about the NY studios. - Managers scramble to get parts and most of the time, need to reuse parts to salvage a bike. - There is never positive re-enforcement nor motivation from your direct supervisor. - Long work weeks. Putting in 70-80hrs/week on top of bringing work home. - You put your all into the studio, running around after hours, putting in 16hr days, with nothing in return.

Pros

Great clients and beautiful facilities. The boutique fitness scene is definitely a fun environment. The locations are in desirable neighborhoods.

Cons

Instructors here make decent money, however the training program can be downright degrading. You would think that you were in basic training for the military, not a cycle studio. After being onboarded, you are treated like an expendable number and disrespected by management.

Pros

Good compensation and benefits, somewhat flexible schedule, great people to work with, laid back and fun working environment.

Cons

I was hired to provide technical and mechanical support for several locations, but a few weeks after I came on board I was told I'd also be responsible for maintenance of the facilities (i.e.: janitorial work). This wasn't something mentioned in the online job description, the phone screen, two interviews or during my training. When I brought this up with the HR director who interviewed and eventually hired me he assured me it was just a misunderstanding. A few days later I received a call from the same HR director telling me I was fired - he refused to provide further information. This wasn't the only detail misrepresented during the hiring process. I was told there would be some travel involved, one or two days a week. Later I was informed I'd be working off-site two to four hours drive time away up to four days a week once Summer ended.
