Pros

The colleagues are lovely, they truly are the best that Focus has.

Cons

Management is horrendous, there's no clear direction. Most of management has continuously discouraged any interesting development that the production team could be involved in, always shutting down suggestions even when the team had time and when the suggestions would have been beneficial for the company. They have actively said they are manipulative and they don't want to listen to anything that goes against their beliefs. Focus doesn't value their employees, and they promise growth but then they exclusively want production unit employees to be pressing buttons and only work on very routine tasks, which ends up burning people out quite fast. They do not pay well and have no intention of doing so, even when people go above and beyond. The only great thing they had was working from home with extreme flexibility, and they are taking that away by making people go to the office twice a week, with no replacement of the benefits that were lost. Run away if you can, this job is not worth the trouble.

Pros

Open to Suggestions: FocusEconomics actively encourages employees to suggest improvements, fostering a collaborative atmosphere. Project Autonomy: You have the freedom to take ownership of various projects, allowing for hands-on learning and skill development. Technological Growth: In the past year, there's been significant expansion of the technological stack, resulting in a steeper but highly rewarding learning curve. Innovation Focus: The commitment to staying at the forefront of technology reflects the company's dedication to innovation, providing employees with excellent opportunities for professional growth. Ideal for Data Enthusiasts: If you're passionate about working with data and aspire for professional growth, FocusEconomics is an excellent choice.

Cons

Limited Seniority in Tech Stack: The shortage of senior expertise in the technological stack may contribute to a slower development pace. On the flip side, this presents an opportunity for individuals to assume more responsibility and exercise autonomy in their roles. Small Company Dynamics: Given the size of the company, the development pace may be slower. However, this setting fosters a collaborative and close-knit environment, allowing for a more hands-on and engaged experience. Restricted Professional Growth: Due to its small scale, the range of professional opportunities may be limited. Consideration for Future Growth: Working in a smaller company may lead individuals to consider transitioning to larger organizations for better economic prospects at some point in their careers. This could be viewed as a natural progression, leveraging the skills and experiences gained at FocusEconomics for future endeavors.
