Moronic CEO and Clueless Henchmen

Pros

None...everyone comes in with a smile and self confidence only to be beaten, castrated, and unceremoniously fired by an idiotic CEO and his lackeys.

Cons

CEO desperately trying to feel relevant since his brief tenure as the Head of SEC in early 90’s. Demented and idiotic ideas to try and reinvent the wheel rather than raise the firm from mediocrity. It’s been close to 20 years...give up on forcing your outdated and irrelevant ideas on employees and clients. Stop hiring yes men and women with no skills or merit besides kissing your behind...you will cost people their livelihood one day.

We truly appreciate valuable feedback and are working hard to make Folio a great place to work. However we do take issue with your claim that “everyone comes in with a smile and self-confidence only to be beaten…” Our employee retention is at or above average for our industry, and we have grown from 120 to over 200 employees in the past five years. Many of our valued employees have been here for over ten years, so clearly some folks make it work. While we respect your opinion, we feel strongly that our product development team has come up with some very relevant, cutting-edge ideas, and our IT team is world-class, developing and implementing new products on an ongoing basis. Our CEO, Steve Wallman, is well-respected in the industry, and regarding tenure as the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, his three-and-a-half years of service are well-within average for leadership. We do hope that you were able to grow and learn in your three plus years at Folio and wish you ongoing success in your future. Thank you again for taking the time to provide a review.

The Worst Place I've Ever Worked

Pros

Talented, intelligent staff. Free parking. Free Advil, Tylenol and Kleenex (you'll need it).

Cons

The organization resembles a dysfunctional family, in which a tyrannical leader (the CEO) creates a culture of fear, blame, and apathy among the underlings (i.e., everyone else, including others in the top-heavy C-suite). The CEO has unpredictable moods, interrogates staff on minor details of any given effort, and has a fondness for marathon meetings during which he will single out a particular individual and publicly humiliate them. HR is aware of the problem and enables it. Rapid employee turnover causes a huge gap in institutional knowledge. Staff is so focused on punishment avoidance that little is ever accomplished. Compensation and benefits are sub-par. Wide-open workspaces and thin-walled offices make privacy difficult. Cursing and foul language are common and contagious. The building ventilation system blows huge amounts of dust into the workspace, creating problems for employees with asthma or allergies.

Pros

Fresh fruit and snacks; talented staff with good experience

Cons

The CEO is a micromanager who demands that everyone do everything his way. He screams and calls people names. No one cares about doing good work anymore. They just want to avoid being yelled at.
