Pros

Free meals are offered daily and there is a pretty good selection There are no part time employees. If you want full time hours, you will get them from day one(this is also a negative...see below)

Cons

There are 4 locations with this company. Evanston and Lake Forest are run by one GM and he does a pretty good job with the tools allowed to him. His biggest asset is he understands that his people are his biggest asset and he treats them like actual people during training and while working. Their busiest location has an all female management staff. I was told they are strong women and I needed to have thick skin. They are not strong women. They are rude, entitled women. I have worked with tons of female employees and superiors and none were like this. I was talked down to, I was scolded like a child, they were patronizing. Their goal is to break you and conform you to their style. You want full time hours...no problem. You'll get 40 hours right out of the gate. You better learn fast or you won't be there long. There is no formal training system. There is no verification of knowledge. You'll work one week in a station then move to another station the next week. You will be expected to explain breads in the bread station without being given the chance to taste or understand the differences in them. You will be expected to know about deli foods and answer questions without being given the chance to taste them. Management understands the IL laws on required breaks so well that you will get yelled at if you don't punch out in time or if you don't take the full 20min. So much so, that it seems they care about the legal repercussions more than they do one of their employees getting a break from running a station in their store. Ownership believes Millennials are lazy and simply don't want to work. They don't grasp the concept that there are millions of Millennials in the work force right now. Ownership can't grasp the concept that they simply need to make they business a more desirable place to work...make people want to come and stay. The company preaches cost of sales everywhere. There are signs hanging up everywhere showing how much they spend of items in a year to try to teach the staff and get them involved...I won't bring up how their numbers are misleading and represent retail costs rather than actual costs. However, nobody discusses increasing sales....except for the GM mentioned earlier. This company focuses solely on the bottom line and how to make it bigger. They don't see the potentials for increasing the top line. They don't see the cost in added time to perform a duty due to cheap, inferior product. They don't see the cost associated with employee morale.

Pros

You get free lunch and you get discounts on other food items you may wish to purchase. If you work at the Glencoe location you will be working with friendly people but don't get your hopes up about the Evanston location.

Cons

I didn't last long here before they decided to let me go. There are many cons. Breaks are only 20 minutes The guys in the kitchen stare you down making you feel uneasy The managers don't greet you when you walk in Mostly Hispanic people working here You have to do everything and learn everything so quickly or you get fired The employees at the Evanston location are not as friendly as the ones in Glencoe You feel as though the managers or other employees are talking behind your back And if you don't speak Spanish you better believe they are calling you stupid in there language.
