Pros

I loved my job. The employees at the Juba office who are at or below lower management are some of the best people I have had the pleasure to know, and the work that is being conducted on behalf of Forcier has the potential to be incredibly impactful and rewarding. I learned a lot in my tenure with the company, because expectations were high and there was too much work to go around. The work caters well to those who love working in a fast-paced environment, and there were many opportunities to learn and grow.

Cons

Sadly, there is almost no institutional memory because of high turnover, and the integrity of the work unfortunately suffers as a result. Most significantly and to a real detriment to the company, Forcier is RIDDLED with melodrama and questionable business practices. The company has built its successes on the backs of amazing and dedicated National employees who are incredibly overworked, sorely underpaid, and woefully under-appreciated. The most recent leadership in South Sudan wasn't very invested in the company and unfortunately also lacked the decorum needed to represent the company well. And Forcier paid a heavy price following that subpar leadership, which completely fell apart at key times, specifically blundering through unclear and poorly executed evacuation efforts on the ground following the outbreak of fighting in Juba in July 2016. In an effort to avoid taking responsibility for this mismanagement and failure in communication during that time, employees were thrown under the bus at almost every opportunity, even at the risk to their personal security in South Sudan. Overall, despite the potential for embarking on some incredibly meaningful and impactful work, the internal, petty, childish, and vindictive antics among upper management has likely set the company back several years as it pertains to both financial stability and continued reputation. Work here at your own risk (and if you do, make sure you get everything in writing and plan on NEVER getting paid on time)...

Draining and negative experience (Juba Office)

Pros

In the Juba office you get a really broad and challenging range of responsibilities given to you and get a lot of experience in a short time, additionally, your colleagues are really dedicated to the issues they work on.

Cons

Head of company is completely unethical and has no respect for her employees and no concern for their well-being. The result is a disorganized, chaotic, unpleasant workplace environment with no guidance or support in skill-building and a terrible work/life balance. Consequently there is an extremely high turnover rate which degrades institutional memory and makes it really hard to deliver quality work.

Pros

Nice colleagues and steep learning curve.

Cons

Low pay, incredibly high workload, unethical management, unethical hiring and firing practices, unethical financial management by CEO, lack of organisational structure, no work-life balance, staff often not replaced while maintaining the same workload in each office, total disregard of employee safety and well-being. Company actively promotes ‘sink or swim’, but it remains unclear what you gain if you do ‘swim’. CEO actively undermines and spreads negative rumors about senior staff. Had a nice team, but otherwise very toxic environment
