When entering the team, I felt welcomed and equipped with leadership and the inner-knowings of the company as far as it related to me and my direct role. I spent a year there learning quickly and feeling comfortable managing senior-level events without a sweat. Unfortunately, my age was deemed as a reason to not promote me. It’s an unfortunate loss for them, and it was a very hard pill for me to swallow. I never want to be withheld from opportunities that I’m worthy of again. If that means being mentored and coached, or entering additional trainings, I will happily do that instead of being stunted in place.
