Pros

Company has been around for years. It is a small team. Pay is pretty decent. Merchandising team for Scott Kay are incredible women. Graphic design team is very professional and knowledgeable. Located in the heart of downtown NYC. Experience working with external agencies for various internal projects (MAJOR MARKETING FIRMS)

Cons

Lets just say, I've had more professional, experienced, and knowledgeable supervisors throughout my career. Supervisors who don't work at a slow pace and have a decent level of creativity for a Sr. position. The company culture as a whole promotes and prefers an extremely laid back, less passionate and hard working employee. Having drive, an intense level of creativity, knowledge, and focus is not valued or considered important here. The Integrated Marketing department is not a fast-pace environment, where you are juggling multiple tasks at once and consistently getting new tasks to add onto your "to do list" every week. You have to spread out the time that you work on each project, so you stay busy every week (An employee can only spend so much time everyday researching industry trends, social analytics platforms and pitching social analytics business for informational meetings about products and prices. This isn't very productive). You come in at 9am and you leave at 5pm, sometimes at 4:30pm. The company has a high-turn over rate. Typical office politics, and catty behavior from women in the office. Human resources is overbearing and problematic (Typical of most HR departments within organizations). The fake hugs and insincere encouraging words of wisdom are hard to swallow at times. People in this department do not work hard, unlike other departments at Frederick Goldman (People in the industry know this). Security staff are a little questionable, in terms of behavior and interaction with employees. After leaving the company, I felt like I wasted my time, energy, creativity and hard work at Frederick Goldman. This is a very arrogant company and group of staff, when they aren't even one of the most recognized luxury accessories companies in the world like Tiffany & Co., Cartier or Harry Winston. I emailed so many of my editorial friends, many who didn't even know what Frederick Goldman was.

Pros

The only pro I could think of is there is not a lot of overtime that needs to be worked.

Cons

Too many VP's, not enough people to do the work. A lot of the upper management staff has no clue. They do not respect their employees and have the attitude that everyone is replaceable and you should be thankful to have the job. Health Insurance is very expensive. Merit Increases are a joke. Low salaries.

Thank you for your feedback. Every year we conduct research on merit increases across the country, as well as industries that we are connected with. Our merit budget is in line and consistent with those findings. With regard to healthcare, it's no secret that every year it is more and more expensive. To combat that, we have switched carriers to avoid an increase and we added an additional plan option that offers lower costs (about 10% less than the low plan of the prior year). We hope that you are happy and wish you well in whatever endeavor you chose to pursue.
