Pros
The daily office environment benefits are customary of a private professional consulting firm (e.g., coffee, tea, snacks, fruit, little birthday cupcake celebrations). The office location is excellent, has easy access for clients, and near many services and restaurants. The work atmosphere is fairly quiet with a pleasant window view of greenery. Up-to-date appropriate software is provided to support contract requirements. Occasional work-related social activities are offered as group functions including Hanford fiscal year-end celebrations. The majority of the staff is friendly, professional, and easy to work with, especially the front reception staff. Mentoring less-experienced or less-skilled staff was encouraged. Clients were treated very well and often enjoyed meeting in such an accommodating office environment.
Cons
Local business development and professional networking opportunities are exceptionally limited in the Tri-Cities. No position advancement opportunities were perceived. Annual cost-of-living salary increases are not considered. Salary raises occur in increments of several years at a time. No significant professional training or skill improvement is offered unless directly supported by a contract. Membership in professional organizations is not supported. Company representation and attendance at professional or industry conferences and functions are neither encouraged nor supported. Observed bullying behaviors from some staff were allowed and unfortunately did not improve over time. This caused stress to some internal relationships.
