Pros

Some good people, interesting industry.

Cons

Fresco is a glorified mobile app dev shop just like the Drop days. Redundancies are just as common now as they were then. Toxic relationships between leadership team and founders. CEO oversells and promises the world to customers and investors. Employees pick up the pieces with sales asked to "fend them off" when projects are delayed. New employees told to add this to their social profiles but it's not true "More than 100 different appliance models from brands like Bosch, Electrolux, GE Appliances, Kenwood, LG Electronics, and Thermomix can be controlled from the Fresco KitchenOS platform". Revolving door of leadership from successful companies. COO left after a few months. HR team quit.

Pros

Cool product and working from home was neat

Cons

Drop/Fresco ask ppl to change LinkedIn profiles to say “More than 100 different appliance models from brands like Bosch, Electrolux, GE Appliances, Kenwood, LG Electronics, and Thermomix can be controlled with the Fresco KitchenOS platform” which is totally weird because its not true. Only Instant Brands Kenwood Panasonic and Viking are hooked up with KitchenOS. Panasonic and Viking are supposed to be coming but you cant buy them yet. So really its like 10 appliances tops that work with it. Thats the stretch the truth vibe at Drop/Fresco. Always overselling and not delivering to customers and investors. If youre dealing with customers youre trying to keep them calm and stall for time. Gets more normal and way more stressful the longer youre there caught in this weird limbo between reality and make believe which really messes with trust. Deadlines and plans change to cover promises. Early 2022 they said this big funding round was coming from three big appliance brands including Instant Brands and Vorwerk. They teased a third partner coming in 2022 which didnt happen till February 2024. People come in with big resumes get announced with a big to-do and then bounce in a few months. They had a COO that was hired and announced to the press. Walked after a couple months. Layoffs happened at Drop/Fresco way before the whole tech industry started shaking things up after covid. Most folks landed on their feet in better spots but still a big whats happening here feeling. Transparency is like a foreign concept. A Finance VP said on this site in 2022 that Drop/Fresco "Could always improve in areas of transparency" nobody knows the real story on how the company is doing money wise or what promises are real. Most days your job is keeping customers happy enough so the company can snag some new investors to keep the dream alive.
