Nothing fresh about it

Pros

Cool location in downtown Ventura right off Main St. Even cooler office/loft space. Company snacks and coffee and the occasional bagels or treats.

Cons

This company is a complete Joke! First of all, they are NOT a food company, but neither are they a Tech company . Just a few days on their system will tell you that nothing is interfaced or linked. Everything is done on Google Docs with NO back-up. They spend a ridiculous amount of time in meetings, being on their laptops and other devices. You will have a meeting about a meeting then take notes on how the meeting went. Their product is also a joke as it weighs about 100 lbs and is a glorified cooler for the crap food they sell as meal kits. The company has no phones. That's right, everyone uses their personal cel phones which is really sketchy. There are some nice people but some in management are phony, rude and condescending. They have no real brand per se and some of them know it. Most are along for the ride and keep living the dream. Ever wonder why you've never heard of them? There's a reason why.

Pros

Remote work for most office/administrative positions

Cons

For the sake of your career’s future: I highly recommend you steer clear of this sinking ship. There is zero growth opportunity/recognition for the hard work you put in, nor the required LONG hours. ‘Turn & burn’ seems to be the management team’s motto here, as they’ll change processes and strategies constantly, on a whim, and shove more and more work at their staff with little to no recognition of the fact that they’ve just effectively changed your job description & added more responsibilities to your day-to-day (without providing a new job description)…then they’ll berate you for not meeting their arbitrary deadlines & completely overlook you for promotions/bonuses, etc. Basically, the employees take the fall for their shortcomings, and you will eventually be set up to fail. They’re working toward a huge objective right now, and offering no equity to the people who actually get the work done, to make this happen. So, there is no silver lining for anyone outside of upper management positions. You’ll be heavily relied upon to help them meet their objectives, and then likely fired when they reach their goal, or you are so burnt out you’re barely a shell of who you were before you took a chance on this ever-failing nightmare of a company. Also, it bears mentioning that—while a fully-remote position is awesome—a FreshRealm remote position offers NONE of the flexibility or perks that a normal remote position does. Instead, you’ll be expected to be available at ALL times. This includes weekends and before and after hours. The expectation being that you live for the company, breathe and die for the company. Welcome to FreshRealm: you’ll have no life, we’ll take away your purpose and ambition, and you’ll like it or we’ll just hire someone cheaper and less-qualified to ‘manage’ you until we bleed you dry of all of your knowledge and toss you out! Proceed at your own risk, job seekers! You’ve been warned.

Pros

There are no pros working here

Cons

I had the unfortunate experience of working at FreshRealm and I can confidently say that this company exemplifies everything that can go wrong in a workplace. It was clear that the CEO and President were not only out of touch but also very actively contributed to a toxic culture that stifled creativity and morale. Leadership Issues: The leadership is a disheartening reflection of poor management practices. The CEO and President are more concerned with their own agendas and well-being rather than the well-being of their employees. Communication from the top down was nonexistent, leading to a culture of confusion and mistrust. Decisions were made behind closed doors, with little regard for input from those on the front lines. This lack of transparency fostered an environment where employees felt undervalued and disrespected. Toxic Work Environment: The culture is rife with negativity. Gossip and backstabbing were common, and it felt like everyone was pitted against each other rather than working collaboratively. The CEO, President and CHRO failed to address a VERY toxic dynamic, allowing it to fester and grow. Any attempts to provide constructive feedback were met with defensiveness or outright hostility from management. As a result, many employees felt disillusioned and afraid to speak up. High Turnover Rate: It’s no surprise that FreshRealm has a notoriously high turnover rate. Many talented individuals came and went during my time there, often citing the toxic environment and ineffective leadership as their primary reasons for leaving. The constant churn of employees only exacerbated the existing issues, creating a cycle of instability that further eroded morale. Conclusion: My time at this company was a disgustingly disheartening experience marked by ineffective leadership and a toxic workplace culture. If you value your mental health and professional development, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Until there is a significant overhaul of the leadership team, mainly the CEO and President and a commitment to fostering a positive work environment, FreshRealm will continue to be a place where talent goes to wither.
