Pros

Competitive salary, decent benefits (not great)

Cons

This was, unfortunately, one of the worst work experiences I've ever had. My department was managed incredibly poorly. The turn-over rate in this department is staggering. Staff at the specialist / coordinator / assistant level are regularly spoken to in a rude and condescending manner, and are expected to do whatever task is given to them, without question (generally tasks that are not part of the job they were hired to do). There are some incredibly hard-working and talented people in this department, and they are leaving in droves. It's unfortunate.

Pros

Free coffee, and it's nice to be near Battery Park in the summer.

Cons

Hostile, filthy (e.g., bugs, cramped, loud workspace, boxes of files scattered about), abusive work environment (e.g., crazy, burned out, incompetent attorney managers). Insufficient peer support. Sweatshop working conditions (e.g., extreme volumes of last minute work coupled w/impossible deadlines). There are some very nice, knowledgeable associates, but, generally, the morale is awful (at least it was in my group). An absolutely horrible job and not worth any extra overtime or salary they are willing to pay you.

Pros

Good office equipment and interesting cases.

Cons

Rainmakers got away with belittling those under him; snide comnents and basically a very stressful firm. It was the most upsetting time of my life. The rainmaker in the LA office got sued and subsequently closed its doors. I finally got out of there, and was able to get therapy to help me get over the lasting effects. Don't Work Here unless you have thick skin or if you are able to brush the stress off your shoulders.
