Poor Planning Holding Back Skilled Developers
Pros
- Met amazing friends. - Coworkers are genuinely very skilled and pleasant people. - Nice new office location. - Thoughtful gifts, such as snack boxes.
Cons
- Pay is below industry standard across the board. With local rent and housing prices rapidly increasing (just across the street from the office it is $1500 a month for a one bedroom apartment), it is untenable long term for employees to be comfortable and settle down roots. - Highly chaotic development cycles. You will be told this is normal. It is not. You deserve better. Critical aspects of the production pipeline are rushed beyond belief. In other instances, decisions simply will not be made until the very last second. This leads to employees feeling stagnated, strung along, burned out, and annoyed. - Communication between Oslo and NC is poor with often unclear expectations. - The divide between studios often means you will be siloed and isolated from other team members whose work impacts yours and vice versa. - Management rooted out the most blatantly toxic individuals, but there remains a strange culture of blame, uncertainty, and anxiety.
