Pros
Fun environment, great staff, and a chance to see live comedy up-close on a night-to-night basis. Quick cash if you can get it. Flexible hours.
Cons
I worked at a Funny Bone restaurant for approx. two years at the end of college. I experienced the worst of the worst: - Managers hiding in the office so they wouldn't have to deal with irate customers - leaving me to negotiate although I was being threatened - Having my hours cut for weeks at a time with no explanation - Being placed in sections so poorly planned that I would make $10 a night, despite having the highest sales the shift before - Having my section reduced based on who I hung out with outside of work - Staying open until 3am on "comic's orders" despite the legal serving hour ending at 1:30am - Being forced to do my tables' own dishes because the dishwasher walked out / no-showed on a double-show night — on MULTIPLE occasions - Having customers send food back and the cost of the meal being comped out of my tips (not by management) - After telling my manager I was moving upon graduating, she took me off the schedule and deleted my HotSchedules account with no explanation. I had not yet given my two weeks and never got a formal notice of termination. The corporate culture here is simple: pack the place and make sure the COMPANY makes as much money as possible, without making the employees' earnings a priority.
