Pros

Flexible. Lots of travel, which I enjoyed.

Cons

Do your research before joining this company. Look at their business model, and ask current employees about management style and business organization. My experience with this company was not a good one. I was actively recruited away from my (successful, well-paying job) to come work for fusionZONE. The CEO himself is the one who both recruited and hired me. Three months later, “the Board” decided to “terminate my position” though I was repeatedly assured it was not performance-related. (Note: They also let their President and their marketing director go after just a few months, so this seems to be somewhat of a pattern. The CEO actually trash-talked one of them directly to me several weeks before that person was let go.) That’s my full disclosure before I give my comments on the cons, which are mostly that the company is run like an old-school car dealership. Zero training. I worked directly for the CEO my first 2 months yet couldn’t ever get ahold of him to save my life. Zero communication on expectations, projects, and the like. The company is extremely siloed. While I was pissed that my position was eliminated after having left my old job, I ultimately believe I dodged a bullet. No one seems to know what’s going on anywhere else in the company besides their own department. Questions are unanswered because no one knows the answer. This company has huge potential because they actually offer a good product, but from my experience, they don’t treat their people with respect and are very inconsiderate. Whether the following is actually true or not, here is my perception as well as the perception of at least several of my former co-workers: The CEO and COO (who happen to be husband and wife) are very boastful of their wealth, and they seem to be far more interested in which employees will party with them at events, conferences, and after work than which employees are best suited for a given position. The CEO had to ask me, a brand new employee, who a particular employee was — an employee who worked right down the hall from the CEO and had been working in the office for several months. It truly put a bad taste in my mouth.

Toxic and Highly Political Work Environment

Pros

This might be a good, challenging place to work and grow for some people. The company gives you a lot of opportunity to learn new things, which can help add value to your overall skill set along your career path.

Cons

If you can somehow hang with the toxic environment here, then more power to you! If you don't fit in with the collective mentality of this place, blindly tolerate or conform to the interpersonal dynamics (described below) you will not be happy here long term. There is a lot of BS that goes on in this work environment. It either gets swept under the rug or treated as the elephant in the room that no one wants to look at. Beneath the veneer of a dynamic, young, energetic company, the culture tends to be very political, and at worst just downright nasty, where there are many individuals who don't go by FACTS and reality, but what's convenient for their needs at the moment. There are people who will not hesitate to publicly(e.g. in emails, chats and face to face) tear others down, distort the truth when it's convenient for their needs, leverage relational aggression & bullying, throw team-mates under the bus using lies and unfounded statements and misuse their power at any and every turn. The folks at the top operate primarily by politics, favoritism and most of all, what they can get away with. I wouldn't say this is apparent every single day and on every single interaction, but on a very regular basis that eventually really gets to you. This type of work culture will wear on anyone's sanity and emotional well-being. And upper management just sits back lets this happen. One of the main managers (female) is very much into favortism and often times misuses her power in ways that are certainly not ethical. She even jumps in and takes part in some of the nastiness, twisting peoples' words around or the facts and truth of the situation. Why? Because she can! There is one very young lady who works closely with this individual (like a pet) and acts abominably with no remorse or shame in terms of her lies, distortion of truth, relational aggression, bullying, limelight/ attention-seeking and manipulation. Most of her actions seem to be motivated by an excessive and childish need for power, where she likes to assume the position of the company's owner to dictate demands to others, oftentimes putting off work she should be doing onto her teammates, when it's not her place to do so. Almost every interaction with this young woman becomes some type of twisted power/ dominance play (overtly or covertly) to serve her insatiable need to feel important, even it it's at someone else expense. It's pretty much like dealing with a narcissist. She can be charming when she needs to be. But if you read up on narcissism, there is usually a self-serving agenda to this facade. So when engaging with her, it's best to take into consideration that you are somehow being played like a fiddle. You don't have to be paranoid on each and every instance, but it's best to be cautious and keep this thought in the back of your mind. No matter how petty the situation is, this person rarely passes up an opportunity to boss someone else around so that she can feel satisfied in being dominant over another. She side-steps boundaries with others and her responsibilities when she is able to. Again, this happens because she is allowed to get away with it. At first, FusionZONE can seem like a fun, exciting and challenging place to grow and thrive. But over time, the not-so-pleasant work climate takes it's toll, and it's easy to feel disgusted with just having to be at your job. Also, they have way too many clients and are yet too understaffed to do an outstanding job and deliver what they promise for each one. Therefore, it's easy to get burnt out. You're always feeling behind and constantly running on a treadmill and stressed out about having to deal with angry clients. With all your worries and concerns over doing your job right, having to deal with bad behavior on top of it all only drains your energy and stresses you out even more. Who needs that in their life? The dates of the positive review below seem conspicuously too close to one another. People who currently work there were most likely prodded to say nice things by management. So in a way, the statements below are a bit biased and contrived. Great companies embrace and support peoples' differences and strengths because these things are true assets. But FusionZONE does not fit under this category by a long shot. How can they when quite a few people there are driven by the childish need to constantly feel important (over every little thing) and will shamelessly discredit or step on others to achieve this? This immature (and unprofessional) preoccupation takes away focus, energy and effort from working cooperatively as a team and actually giving clients the very best.

Pros

Employees - my team was absolutely phenomenal to work with (no longer there anymore because that's how horrible the culture and upper management are) and I honestly stayed because of them. You do meet some really honest, genuine people with good hearts there.

Cons

Congratulations! You were smart enough to check employee reviews about a company you may be selling your soul for. My advice to you is: Don’t waste your time reading the good reviews. Besides the fact that they are fake and probably written by the content team there who creates fake emails and writes reviews on behalf of “anonymous” employees. Filter and read 3 and below because why read the good when you really want to read the ugly. We always want to read the ugly anyways. So here is as much covered for you as a potential employee working for this piece of crap company. You will be Underpaid - They tend to move ppl from within so that they can give associates a nominal raise for roles that are worth more in the overall market. Not only will they expect you do your your normal responsibilities, but they expect you to do more. You have multiple people micromanaging you and asking you to take on more and more and more until you’re burnt out Karen Sutherlin is a Psycho - She absolutely needs to brought up here. She’s a horrible person to work with. She just creates more problems on top of already present problems. Straight up domino effect. Brett as well is horrible. Well, at least he isn’t annoying. I could describe his incompetencies, but he’s not impressive enough to even bother. It’s simple, do you want to work people who are hated by basically all employees in the company? If you think those reviewers really love these people as stated on these reviews, just ask about them in the interview. Here’s a question to ask in an interview: “What does the executive team look like?” “Do you interact with them on a daily basis?” Don’t be afraid to be detailed. It’s your life. You will get a fake, vague, and even a dumb answer. Honestly, The look on their faces will be a tell all. And trust me it ain’t pretty. Managers Have No Experience- They are inexperienced and have no idea how to manage their people. All of them were promoted from low level roles in less than a year of working there. As much as they mean well, they don't know what they're doing. No Growth - No one can train you because no one knows how to do anything. This is how you know you are working with a bunch of dumbies: If you make a mistake no one would even notice tbh. If you lie, no one would notice. And honestly, no one would even care. BUT if Karen finds out or notices, then she will bug you like an already madman taking steroids. Hostile Location - keep in mind this office is underground with zero windows and gray walls everywhere. There are cameras everywhere in the office. Krazy Karen had them installed. Talk about micromanagement at its finest. Also, everything in that area cost $10+ for lunch. All that adds up unless you want Subway. Disgusting Sanitation - The bathrooms are dirty. There were days when there was no soap in the girls restroom. Go pee in there if you don’t believe me while you wait. It smells in there EVERYDAY! Also there were weeks when there was no dishwasher soap in the kitchen, but they expected us to wash our own dishes. Executive team is so cheap they can’t even keep the kitchen stocked with cleaning supplies. Nominal Sick & Vacation Days - You are entitled to sick days and vacations but doesn’t mean Krazy Karen won’t complain about it and check your Facebook or Instagram to see what you’re doing. Yes, they check. Yes, they assume you to be their slaves and never take sick or vacation days. Boring Socials - cheapest socials you’ll ever attend. They expect all directors and managers to be there. They basically choose a cheap place for employees to have up to 3 drinks. No such thing as open bar from them cuz they too cheap for that. And they’re BORING! Everyone stands around to awkwardly talking to eachother drink and eat. OMG choose a place where people can actually do fun stuff. Prepare something fun to do. Mediocre Potluck - you’d think that the Brett and Karen would provide fairly decent food, but nope for potlucks they bring sandwiches from Costco EVERY SINGLE TIME without a doubt. Not even some croissant sandwiches, because they’re too cheap for that. Dirty Free Coffee - just straight up sucks. It’s a keurig that never gets a clean filter, so you’re basically drinking coffee mixed with 2 year old unfiltered water and very, very old coffee residue from literally 30-40 people using the keurig everyday. Coffee doesn’t mean lattes, cappuccinos and americanos, sorry. Not Impressive Pizza/Donut Days - When you start getting this every month you’ll get sick of it. Also, those are the cheapest foods you can feed your employees for free because they’re too cheap to provide anything better. They’d never bagels because bagels cost more. What a nice sugar spike and crash for those who actually care about their health from people who absolutely don’t care about you. This is and un-impressive efforts to increase employee morale. By stuffing you with cheap processed food high in sugar. The Not So Really Flex Work Hours - Flex hours are not flex when you have to come in by 9! Enough said. And you have to make up your hours during the week even if you’re on SALARY. Kids Are Everywhere- if you hate kids, this is not the place for you. There’s literally 3 schools surrounding the office and you will see and hear screaming kids everywhere. And they scream. Trust me. They do. What a nice way to wake up to on a Monday morning walking into work. Expensive Benefits - Be prepared to take a good chunk of money out of your own paycheck to pay for your benefits. It’s overall not great. No Job Security - Good luck trusting this place for anything involving that. Crappy benefits, basically only 4 holidays off, and coming into work everyday treated like crap does not help. Dress Code - Yes there’s a dress code...the fact that there is one is already says a lot about how you’re treated. Sorry you have to leave your open toed shoes, tank tops, and hoodies at home. Ever wonder why employees decide to not follow Ms. Karen’s dress code? Because we’re adults. Treat us like one with respect and we’ll treat the workplace like one, with respect. Screw calling it a confusionzone - it’s a straight up hell hole.
