All-around quite bad

Pros

The work is fairly consistently good. The people are wonderful. The pay is good for a small agency.

Cons

I worked at Fuzzco for 3 years, verbally dedicating the rest of my career to the company, despite the many issues with the job and work environment and was let go with a month's notice with no severance. The company was told that the decision was mutual, that I voluntarily left. You can find a better agency to work for… stear clear of this one.

Pros

Has a decent spread of project types. Get to work with some high profile clients. Get to meet some really great people and grow close to them under some interesting circumstances.

Cons

NO freelance is allowed unless you want to do it for free, on your own time and Fuzzco gets the credit. Sick days come out of your vacation. Management clearly doesn't have respect for employees and has high and unrealistic expectations when it comes to a healthy work/life balance.

Almost the Best Place Ever

Pros

You'll get to work with interesting clients and take responsibility for big projects. The bar is set very high and everyone hired generally has excellent taste. You will undoubtedly do your best work and emerge with an impressive portfolio. The pace is insanely fast (some people like this), so you need to know what you're doing or figure it out fast. No one is going to teach you. My efficiency and skills definitely improved, but mostly through my own determination. The people you work with will be some of the kindest, most creative people you'll ever meet. They're really what make the company shine. Everyone from project managers, to developers, to illustrators, cares deeply about design and delivering top notch work. If there's one thing Fuzzco gets right, it's their hiring. Truly amazing people. Fuzzco also does a nice job of nurturing community for its employees. There's an annual retreat, wine tastings, family-style dinners. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Cons

The fast pace can be a negative aspect if you're not someone who thrives in that type of environment. It becomes a larger problem when it gets paired with a certain level of micromanagement. You could work on a project for weeks, only to have someone review your work the night before the deadline and completely change it. Many issues stem from the fact that the owners don't have any industry experience. This can be good and lead to non-traditional approaches to management and creative direction, but it also has a dark side. There is a no-freelance policy that limits your creative and financial freedoms outside of the office. You will be expected to be available during public holidays if the need arrises. Oftentimes it seems clients have a larger voice than employees.
